Being encircled by a group of burly men, Bryson swallowed hard. He knew things were about to get tricky.
"I'm sorry. Something came up at work earlier. Here's 100 thousand dollars. Sorry for my mistake." He tossed the cash onto the table.
At that moment, Alden brought in a group of men. "I don't think 100 thousand is enough. Don't you have an image to uphold, Mr. Walsh? One million dollars, and we'll forget about this."
It was a blatant trap, yet Bryson was too foolish to realize it. Considering refusing to pay would likely result in a thorough "conversation" with the thugs, Bryson gritted his teeth and handed over a million.
"Aren't you going to say something?" Alden tossed the credit card to the woman.
The woman quickly changed her demeanor and sweetly said, "Thank you for your generous reward, Mr. Walsh!"
Bryson kept a grim face as he quickly walked out. A slap cost a million, and the worst part was that he hadn't even enjoyed himself. It was embarrassing just thinking about it!
But this wasn't the time to dwell on that. He needed to confront the Herbal Association and get to the bottom of things. If Daniel wasn't affected by this whole ordeal, the consequences…
Bryson couldn't help but shiver at the memory of Ernest's sinister grin.
Meanwhile, Alden stood upstairs and saw him off. Following that, he took out his phone. "Mr. Ashcroft, Bryson has left."
"Got it." Daniel hung up the call and then dialed Oscar's number.
"Mr. Geller Senior, you're up next," he said with a smile.
Oscar's cheerful laugh rang from the speaker. "Heard you loud and clear!"
After ending the call, Daniel stretched his body. To plan the counterattack, he had done a lot of work; it had been exhausting.
Charlene looked up at him and gloomily remarked, "You've only been here for less than an hour. Was that necessary?"
Howard took a deep breath. "You should all be aware of the gravity of this situation. If Ashcroft Group finds an opportunity, the consequences are something we can't bear!"
"So what if we can't bear it? The fact is, Ashcroft Cosmetics is already shipping out in large quantities."
Howard looked up and saw Zane Dalton, whom he usually didn't get along with, sitting with his legs crossed, a smirk on his face as he looked at them.
"What does that mean, Zane?" Howard questioned in a deep voice.
A cold snicker escaped Bryson's lips. "Are you saying you're the one who supplied Ashcroft Cosmetics?"
"That's right." Zane shrugged, openly admitting it.
That undoubtedly caused everyone to look at him, their expressions filled with complex and unreadable emotions.
