Right now, there were plenty of eyes on Ashcroft Cosmetics, and among them, Carl was the most concerned.
He originally thought it would be another peaceful day, but what he didn't expect was that a series of large trucks had suddenly arrived at the door of Ashcroft Cosmetics.
"What's going on?" He perked up, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Could the shutdown have finally taken its toll, and they were preparing to sell off the machines?
But that didn't seem quite right. If they were selling machines, they would just need flatbed trucks. Why would they be using shipping containers?
"Let me find out what's going on." A sense of uneasiness sprouted within him, and he approached the building.
The closer he approached, the deeper his heart sank. When he saw his ex-colleague, he swiftly ran up to him. "Hey, Leonard, what's going on here?"
"What's going on? We're shipping them out—that's what's going on! The goods are produced, so we're delivering them!" Leonard White shot a dismissive, contemptuous expression at Carl.
Carl felt his heart skip a beat, and his face dropped. "D-Didn't you say—"
"I was in a bad mood, so I lied to you. What's wrong with that?" Leonard sneered at Carl.
He felt a rush of satisfaction. Bound by Bridget's orders, he had to play along with Carl. But that was over now.
Seeing Carl's face contorted in embarrassment, Leonard couldn't help but feel pleased.
After all, Carl had once betrayed them, nearly putting them out of work! They were all middle-aged, and finding another job would be incredibly difficult. It would be surprising if Leonard and the others didn't hold a grudge against him!
Carl's face turned pale. He knew it was over!
In a daze, he returned to his office and quickly dialed Bryson's number.
The worst part was he had stockpiled a huge amount of goods! If they didn't get cleared out soon, they would just rot in the warehouse!
"Fuck! The Herbal Association betrayed me!" Bryson gritted his teeth with bloodshot eyes.
"Sir, you've yet to pay your bills." The woman ignored the pain in her leg and carefully reminded him.
He suddenly looked up, only to deliver a slap to her face. "Pay my bills? Go to hell!"
The woman wasn't one to be bullied without retaliating. After enduring the slap, she cocked her head harshly at him before a group of burly men arrived outside.
By then, Bryson had regained his calm, but the burly men approached him with sinister smiles.
"This motherfucker tried to dine and dash on me and even hit me!" the woman furiously exclaimed, pointing at Bryson.
