......
She had barely gotten started with Elijah. Could it be that her time was already over?
As the thought passed through her mind, Carolien suddenly could not sit still. In the office, she paced back and forth with an anxious expression.
"This man is really fickle. How can he just cast me aside after having slept with me?"
"I can't force things or it might backfire and those brats outside will get their way."
"What should I do?"
Her gaze swept across the phone and landed on the home page of her social media. With a flash of inspiration, she said, "Yes!"
She could always post something to grab his attention.
"Whatever, I'll try my best!"
There was no way he never scrolled through social media.
She took a picture of the coffee machine and captioned it, "Even though you're small, you get the job done. My stupid little penguin, you're not that high-tech but you're adorable! Teehee."
After posting that, Carolien was in a good mood. Carolien turned off her phone and went back to work.
The next morning, she took another photo of the sky and posted a weather report. At night, she was busy at the nightclub, so she took a picture of a woman's back and posted that.
After seeing his clients and dealing with the affairs outside, Elijah returned to the company. Inside the conference room, he looked down at the multitude of reports and felt a headache. Just then, his phone on the table lit up. He tapped in to look at it before replying to a few messages.
There was a lot of noise beside his ears, which made him feel restless. He clicked on his social media out of boredom and casually scrolled through. The screen was filled with all sorts of posts.
"The starry sky is so beautiful, but it's not enough."
This post was attached with two very meaningful pictures. One was the starry sky and another was the figure of a woman standing alone in the night. It was a very impressive shot that highlighted a half-body figure of the person standing nearest to the camera amongst the many shadows.
His eyes lit up and he couldn't help but smile. "Is someone missing me?"
"Today's weather is nice and sunny. Yay!"
"I received a small gift today! I'm so happy!" Attached was a picture of the gift along with a blooming rose.
"The weather is changing. It's cold and raining now. Remember to keep warm, everyone!"
"I just thought of something." The picture was of a woman's back. She was wearing a sexy T-shirt that had a pink diamond phoenix printed on it. Under the light, it shone dazzlingly.
"Even though you're small, you get the job done. My stupid little penguin, you're not that high-tech but you're adorable! Teehee." Attached was a picture of a coffee machine shaped like a penguin.
......
Most of Elijah's friends rarely posted on social media. Being bombarded with so many new posts, a surge of memories surfaced in his mind. Subconsciously, he chuckled out loud.
"Haha."
"This woman is interesting. Does she have nothing better to do than report the weather every morning?"
His laughter was like a clap of thunder in the silent conference room. All eyes were focused on him, and even Hart and Hudson turned their heads in astonishment.
Only then did he snap back into reality. He turned off his phone and retracted his smile. "Continue!"
When he spoke, it was obvious that he was in a much better mood than before.
He had planned to go to the nightclub that night, but by the time he finished work and meetings with his clients, it was already close to midnight. He had drunk quite a bit. Furthermore, the nightclub wasn't on the way. Ultimately, he chose to go home.
Lying down on the bed, he went to refresh Carolien's profile again. Unexpectedly, she had not updated anything new.
Turning off his phone, he went back to sleep.
When he woke up the next morning, he went to check Carolien's weather forecast. To his disappointment, she had not made any posts. After washing up and tidying up, he went to work.
Elijah had to welcome a few friends over the next three days. It was only after that that he finally had some free time. He habitually clicked on his social media. However, he realized that her last post was dated back to the last time he checked it. She hadn't updated since then. The last few posts were the weather updates, the starry sky, and the rose. All of a sudden, Elijah felt his heart lurch.
"Why hasn't she updated?"
"Also, who gave her that flower?"
"Has something happened to her?"
"Could she have set her eyes on a new target?"
In an instant, Elijah's face turned black. Before he wrapped up his meeting with his clients, Elijah left.
Without any warning, Elijah went straight to Misty's Nightclub. This time, he didn't bring anyone with him. After all, he had been here before and was a big shot. All the staff members of Misty's knew him.
Leading him through the door, the waiter was smart. He didn't bother calling his name. In a light voice, he said, "Sir, will you be booking out the entire room or...?" He wanted to ask if he would be spending the night in the lady owner's office instead.
Before he could speak, Elijah's gaze fell. He caught sight of a woman dressed in red dancing the Waltz with a man in the middle of the dance floor. She seemed to like wearing red. Contrasted against her pale skin, she stood out amongst the crowd. At this moment, the two seemed to be whispering something to each other as they laughed. Their actions were very intimate.
"Get your boss to come to see me in Room 1!" With a wave of his hand, Elijah headed for the staircase.
The waiter did not dare to dally. He grabbed another waiter and whispered a few words into his ear before hurrying to follow Elijah.
