Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 422

She turned around and yelled at her maids, “What are all of you doing there? Did I pay you to just stand around and do nothing?”

The maids mumbled a quick response and hurried forward.

“Don’t move if you don’t want him to die!” Charles looked at the maids coldly, the porcelain shard in his hand now cutting into Jax’s throat.

Blood trickled down Jax’s neck, and his shirt turned red within seconds.

“Charles, calm down.” The chilling sensation on Jax’s neck was making his blood freeze, and no matter how hard he tried to keep himself calm, his voice trembled as he spoke.

Charles did not even bother to reply but merely exerted more force on his neck.

A small half of the broken porcelain shard had now dug into Jax’s flesh and he could not help but yelp in pain. Knowing that his life was on the line, his legs had turned into jelly. If it was not for Charles who held him up, he would have crumpled to the floor.

“Stop stop stop!” Seeing that Charles was clearly not fooling around, Sylvia did not dare to gamble on Jax’s life. She screamed for Charles to stop, and at the same time, quickly gave her maids a signaling look to call for the military officers outside.

Now that Charles was still under investigation for Harris Corporation’s involvement in human experiments, he had twenty over soldiers by his side monitoring him, and these people were Sylvia’s connections as well.

Charles noticed Sylvia’s small action but did not stop her. Instead, he tightened his grip and made a half-inch-long cut on Jax’s neck.

Blood continued flowing down his chest and dyed his entire upper torso blood-red.

The feeling of blood and vitality being drained from his body frightened him. He wanted to speak but whenever he tried to open his mouth, his neck ached even more and he could feel more blood gushing out from the wound.

He did not even dare to move, let alone speak, worried that he would trigger Charles to actually kill him.

Sylvia glanced at the door several times. It had already been half a minute, where were the military officers in charge of monitoring Charles?

She cast a look at the blood oozing from Jax’s neck. Now that things had unfolded to this stage, playing dumb was no longer an option.

“Let go of him and I’ll tell you what happened to Sophia!” She said through gritted teeth.

Charles’ eyes turned cold as he loosened his grip around Jax’s neck, but just as Jax let out a breath of relief, Charles suddenly swung his arm and stabbed Jax’s arm with the broken shard of porcelain.

“Argh!”

Jax grabbed his arm and yelled out in pain as he fell to the ground. He had so much blood all over his body he looked as if he had just been fished out from a pool of blood.

“Honey!”

Sylvia paled and she quickly rushed forward to help him up.

However, before she could even get close to him, Charles’ expression darkened as he kicked Jax away.

The kick was aimed at Jax’s injured arm and he almost fainted from the pain. In addition to the wound on his neck, he felt as if he was already on the verge of dying and he could not even pick himself up.

“Charles, don’t you think this is too much!” Sylvia shrieked angrily.

Charles snorted. “You think this is too much? If I had a bigger knife with me now I would just chop his right arm off as compensation for Sophia.”

What about the things they had secretly done to his woman?

“What compensation? I don’t know what you’re talking about. Charles, if you don’t stop now, don’t blame me for being…”

She paused before she could finish her sentence when she saw Charles dragging Jax up from the floor.

Sylvia could tell that his patience was running thin, and if she did not tell him about what happened to Sophia, he might actually kill Jax!

“If you only asked her over to talk, why did she leave her purse and phone at your car? Can you at least think before you lie?” Charles sneered at her.

God knows whether Sophia was dead or alive, and there was still no hint of her whereabouts.

He could not be bothered to deal with Sylvia anymore, and so he quickly called his men to check whatever security surveillance cameras nearby that were available. Then, he set off with his driver and the few military officers.

They had rushed over in such a hurry that Charles did not even check the roadside. This time, he ordered the driver to drive slowly so he could carefully check the surroundings.

The driver drove as slowly as he could, and after hesitating several times, he finally asked in a cautious tone, “Mr. Harris, there was a car accident when we were on the way over. Do you think it could be Ms. White?”

Charles’ body stiffened as his face paled and he fell silent.

Seeing his reaction, the driver stopped talking and continued driving quietly.

“Where was the car accident?” With his fists clenched tightly, Charles asked in a shaky voice after a long moment of silence.

The driver had never seen Charles so distraught. He paused for a bit before replying, “Just right in front here, we’ll reach it soon in about two or three minutes.”

Then, he drove toward the accident site.

Charles had already got out of the car before the car even stopped.

The accident site had been taped up and a few police officers were conducting routine investigation around the area. In the middle of the barricade tape that warned people away was a car that was burnt thoroughly black and the floor was covered with blood. The scene was absolutely horrifying.

The nauseating smell of gasoline mixed with a tang of blood, in addition to the pungent smell of burning plastic, lingered in the air.

If an accident had happened here, the chances of surviving this tragedy were quite slim.
