Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 402

Sophia looked up at him, only to realize that he seemed to be in a worse mood than before.

“What’s the matter?” Sophia asked.

Charles looked down at her, the look in his eyes so deep like a vortex that could suck in her entire soul. “He touched your leg again?”

Taken aback by his question, Sophia was stunned for a moment before she processed what he had said and was at a loss whether to cry or laugh. “Dr. Hemingway didn’t touch my leg, he’s just doing my routine checkup.”

He was already as mature as an adult when he was ten years old, but how could he be so childish about something like this?

Aside from that, Dr. Hemingway was only helping her for Aunt Lucy’s sake, so why was he constantly unusually competitive with the doctor?

Charles snorted lightly and cupped her chin as he pecked her lips. “Let him know there’s no need to get the specialists, I’ll find them for you.”

“It doesn’t matter who’s the one calling the specialists, they’re the same people anyway so what’s the difference? Besides, Dr. Hemingway hasn’t done anything to me, why are you so jealous?”

Charles did not answer her question, but he still seemed upset.

However, Sophia understood his domineering personality and how he was more possessive than others. She clung to his arm and said softly, “Alright, I’ll do as you say. I’ll call Dr. Hemingway now and tell him there’s no need to trouble himself anymore.”

At the end of the day, it did not matter who was the one handling this matter so there was no need to upset him with such a small issue that could be easily settled.

Now that she had given in, he changed his mind all of a sudden. “Never mind, I’ll just think of it as owing him a favor then.”

After all, Victor had already reached out to the specialists. If Sophia turned him down now, it would only make her seem unkind.

Sophia, “...”

Clearly, whoever said that women were as unpredictable as the weather had not met Charles.

Sometime in the middle of the night as the two were asleep, Yvette called to say that Master Harris did not have much time anymore and urged Charles to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

Charles wanted to let Sophia sleep in after seeing how bleary-eyed she was, but he could not help but worry that the bodyguards might make a move, and so he decided to bring her along to the hospital.

By the time they arrived at the hospital, the rest of the Harris family was already there.

The Harris family had had the entire floor covered. Aside from the bodyguards standing guard by each entrance, only the Harris family members were allowed on the floor. Nevertheless, it was still a chaotic scene and it was noisier than a morning market.

“Hasn’t Grandpa been doing alight recently? What happened that he’s suddenly on the verge of death?”

“I don’t know much about the specifics but I heard that Grandpa just started vomiting blood all of a sudden, and when he was rushed into the emergency room, the doctors said that the situation does not look good!”

“So is Dad awake or in a coma now? Did he mention anything about his will when he came around?”

“Everything to do with the company shares is clearly stated but there are still properties, antiques, and whatnot, and all those altogether add up to quite a large amount of money. I think we should get a lawyer to sort it out, otherwise, it’s not worthwhile at all to fight among each other because of this!

“I was thinking the same. The lawyers are already waiting downstairs, let me give them a call and have them come up.”

“How am I being rude? Even after searching for other women outside to bear their children, those sons of yours still can’t get a girl pregnant! Everyone knows about it too and it’s quite a funny joke. As your sister-in-law, I’m just kindly advising you for your own good.”

“Don’t get too carried away yet! Father never liked you and that husband of yours, so what if you can give him a great-grandson? That doesn’t mean you’ll get more shares than us!” Ted was extremely aggravated upon hearing her words.

The two of them were talking quite loudly, and with Charles being present as well, the scene drew Oscar and the others’ attention.

Everyone stared at the barely noticeable bump on Sophia’s stomach as doubtful thoughts flashed through their mind.

“Charles, even if Sophia has your baby, both of you aren’t officially married yet so she isn’t considered a Harris. Isn’t it a bit inappropriate for her to be here right now?” Luna, the eldest daughter of the Harris family cast Sophia a cold look and directed her snarky remark at Charles.

The younger members of the Harris family had no say in this, but they could not help but turn over to watch what was happening.

Charles kept an arm around Sophia and a steady, calm expression as he replied, “I don’t have a choice. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I’m sure you understand that, right? I was forcefully separated from her while I was in jail so I really don’t want to be away from her for another second right now.”

“We were all young once so we understand how young people are more clingy when they first fall in love but Charles, no matter what, Sophia is not a part of the Harris family, nor is she an official daughter-in-law of the Harris family. Hence, I don’t think it’s appropriate for her to be here,” Oscar said with a sly grin.

He was on the same page as Luna —— they wanted Sophia to leave. They meant the same, but their words sounded different.

It was clear that they were all worried that Master Harris would remember the baby Sophia was carrying and give Charles more of his inheritance.

“Uncle Oscar, I don’t want you to talk about how Sophia isn’t officially my wife,” Charles said, “I will marry Sophia no matter what so she’s bound to be Mrs. Harris sooner or later.”

Luna could not be bothered to talk to him anymore. “I don’t care what you say, Sophia has not legally married into the Harris family so she’s not a part of the family! Can someone come and take Sophia home so she can rest? She’s a pregnant lady, she shouldn’t be staying up this late!”
