Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 384

“Two of you stay here and two of you can come with me.”

Sophia brought along two bodyguards to Ward 1236. The trio of the two burly men and an eye-turning beauty like her caught many people’s attention along the way.

However, she ignored them all as she quickly made her way over to Ward 1236.

“Are you Ms. Soph?” A nurse asked her.

Sophia nodded. “Where is she?”

“We helped her clean her wound but she lost too much blood so she’s still unconscious in her room. If it’s possible, can you please make arrangements for her medical bills now?”

Perhaps the nurse found the two bodyguards standing behind her too intimidating, she seemed nervous when she spoke.

Sophia took out her credit card without hesitation and handed it to one of the bodyguards to make the payment. Then, she went into the room with the other one.

Laying on the bed, Nicole’s face was pale-white and her brows were tightly knitted against each other, seemingly in great pain.

Sophia lifted the quilt. Where her right arm was supposed to be seemed empty, and as Sophia reached out to touch it, there was nothing. Sure enough, her arm was gone.

Sophia’s hand trembled as she put the quilt back in place.

“How did she lose her arm?”

“Judging from the wound, it seemed to be cut off. However, the passers-by who called 911 and reported this claim that when they found her, she was all alone laying in a pool of blood.”

Sophia nodded slowly. She felt as if she was suddenly in a dream and this was all an illusion.

Her sister-in-law had just left the house for just two days. How did her arm get cut off all of a sudden?

Was someone behind the scenes forcing Nicole to do all of this? Was Nicole’s self-harming part of her scheme? Or perhaps, Nicole owed loan sharks money or provoked the mob?

Her mind was in chaos.

Right then, the nurse pointed at the bed and called out happily, “She’s awake!”

Sophia turned around and was met with an awakened Nicole who was staring right back at her.

“How are you? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?” The nurse asked as she walked toward the bed.

Nicole shook her head. “I’m fine, you can go now.”

The nurse still had plenty of tasks on-hand so she merely scribbled down some notes on Nicole’s chart before rushing off.

Only Nicole, Sophia, and the other bodyguard remained in the room.

“What happened to your arm? Did someone do that?” Sophia knew that she should not hold on to any more hope, but she still could not help herself. “If you have any difficulties, you can just tell us about it and we’ll solve it together.”

Nicole wanted to sit up but after losing so much blood, did not have the energy to do so. In addition to the loss of one arm, she could barely muster up any strength to sit up.

Noticing her struggling, Sophia went forward to help her up but was immediately rejected.

“The pair of you brother and sister have the same problem, you’re both so naive it’s actually hilarious. The facts are already right before your eyes, what were you thinking? You’re so stupid I can’t bring myself to lie to you anymore.” There was a vague jeering look in Nicole’s eyes.

Sophia lowered her gaze. “What’s with your arm then?”

“The White family kicked me out and I was too embarrassed to go home, but I don’t have much money with me. Seeing how much your brother likes me, I thought he would be able to forgive me if I inflict a serious injury on myself, but he didn’t even pick up my call.”

“I was just pretending to sleep too just now because I thought he was here, but it was just you. Why did you think I suddenly woke up the second when you arrived?” Nicole snorted.

Sophia wanted to explain that if her brother had known Nicole was admitted to the hospital, he would certainly have picked up the phone.

However, facing Nicole who seemed like a complete stranger right now, the words were stuck in her throat. Without saying anything else, Sophia turned around to leave.

Right away, she had an idea which acquaintance Charles had met the other day.

“You’re just a child, you shouldn’t speak so aggressively. Anyway, I won’t force you if you don’t want to, but keep this number just in case, I’m sure you’ll come to me soon.”

Without saying anything else, Sophia hung up and straightaway called Charles.

However, after trying several times, nobody answered.

Sophia instantly felt uneasy. Charles had never been like this!

“You two, stay here at the hospital with Ster and Dad. You two, come with me to Harris Corporation,” Sophia ordered the guards and quickly rushed downstairs.

Meanwhile, the Harris Corporation building’s entrance was swarmed with a dozen police cars.

By the time Sophia arrived, she saw several SWAT officers surrounding Charles as he got into one of the police cars.

“Charles!” Sophia immediately got out of the car and ran toward Charles.

Charles only had enough time to look at her before the police officer beside him forced him into the car.

“Charles!!!” Sophia ran all the way over but before she could get any closer, a few of the police officers stopped her. “Miss, please do not obstruct the police.”

Mr. Logan who was standing not far away immediately came over to apologize to the police officer and pulled Sophia away.

The police officers got into their cars and soon enough, the fleet of police cars disappeared before them.

“A bunch of SWAT officers suddenly came to the office just now, claiming that Harris Corporation is suspected to be falsifying accounts and conducting illegal human experiments, and so they brought Mr. Harris down to the station for further interrogation,” Mr. Logan explained to her.

Upon hearing this, Sophia’s face paled. “Just now?”

“Yeah, about ten minutes or so right before you came. They didn’t say much either, just something to do with fabricated accounts and illegal human experiments. Then, they arrested Mr. Harris,” Mr. Logan sighed before continuing, “Even if there was such a claim, it should have taken much more time. It’s obvious that someone is setting Mr. Harris up.”
