Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around! novel Chapter 370

“Don’t touch me!” Sophia pushed him away as her face paled.

The mere thought of him being related to her mother’s death broke her heart!

Charles grabbed onto her hand and pulled him into his arms. With a gentle sigh, he said, “I haven’t even finished talking, why are you jumping to conclusions?”

“Don’t say anything more, I don’t want to hear it!” Sophia tried to push him away as she felt her chest getting heavier by the second. “Being with you was a mistake from the very beginning!”

If she had not fallen in love with him back then and fought to be together with him, the White family would not have fallen to this state today!

Charles’s expression darkened when he heard the last part of her sentence. “Don’t you dare talk about how us being together is a mistake, I don’t want to hear it ever again.”

“You don’t want to hear it? It’s just the truth though, isn’t it?” Sophia’s eyes were bloodshot. “If I hadn’t fallen in love with you, we wouldn’t be in this mess right now and my mother wouldn’t… wouldn’t have died either!”

Dad was not entirely wrong, she was the reason her mother was dead now…

Charles’s heart winced when he saw her tear-streaked face and reached his arms around to hug her.

“Don’t touch me!” Sophia struggled with all her might to break free from his grasp but he did not budge. Red anger flashed across her eyes and she bit on his shoulder.

To think that she had told her sister-in-law that she trusted him! How ridiculous of her!

She tasted a mixture of tears and blood in her mouth and the metallic taste repulsed her. However, she kept on biting with no intention of letting go.

Charles kept his arms around her as well, with one hand gently stroking her back. He felt distressed and at the same time, amused. “Can’t you let me finish talking? I am indeed involved in your mother’s death but it’s because someone is trying to frame me.”

He planted a kiss on her temple. “Do you understand me now? Silly little girl.”

Sophia stiffened up and finally let go of his shoulder.

He was being framed?

Charles did not do it?

“What about the phonecall I heard just now? You were asking someone to take care about Mom and to delete all the chat records! Why would you do that if you’re being framed?”

She desperately wanted to believe him but she had heard him say those things himself!

Charles raised an eyebrow. “So you heard everything.”

He figured it out when he noticed her strange expression earlier. “Let’s say that I’m just worried that the person framing me might use them against me, would you believe me?”

Sophia looked up at him and pushed him away all of a sudden while he was off guard. “The chat records were in Mom’s phone. How did you find out about them if you weren’t the one who did it?”

“Your sister-in-law sent it to me.” Seeing that she refused to believe him, Charles’s expression darkened.

There was nothing he could say though. If it was not for all the things he had done in the past to hurt her, she would have easily trusted him wholeheartedly, and not be in a spot where she could not bring herself to trust him.

“!” Blood drained from her face.

Nicole sent him the messages?

How was this possible?

When her sister-in-law had sent her those chat records earlier, she reminded her countless times to not let Charles know it, had she not?

Charles did not explain further. He simply took out his phone and pulled out his chat with Nicole and handed Sophia his phone.

Sophia took the phone. Her hand was trembling so badly that she could barely tap on the phone.

How was this possible?

Ever since the car accident happened, the only people she trusted in this world were Ster and Nicole. Nicole had always been so kind to her, so how could she do such a thing behind her back?

“It’s fine if you don’t want to see it, you don’t have to force yourself.” Charles had once considered helping Sophia grow but when he realized that he could not bear the sight of her being miserable, he ultimately gave up on that plan.

Not in a very good way too.

He paused for a moment before enveloping her in a hug and kissed the edge of her eyes. “If you don’t want me to look into this, I won’t, and we can just pretend that this never happened if you want.”

The one thing he hated the most was people framing him, but if investigating this issue would upset Sophia, he would much rather let it slide!

“... It’s alright.” Sophia twisted the corner of her sleeves. She would get to the bottom of Mom’s death no matter what!

Charles gently patted her back and looked down at her. “Just be honest and talk to me about anything next time, alright?”

The thought of her hating him and leaving him because of a misunderstanding terrified him.

He hugged her tightly again as if he wanted to embed her into his bones.

Sophia was almost out of breath but she did not struggle, and remained quietly in his arms and nodded.

She suddenly noticed a vague scent of blood and remembered what she had done moments ago. “Is there a first aid kit here? Let me treat the wound for you.”

“It’s fine,” Charles replied before continuing in a teasing tone, “It doesn’t hurt anyway. Though, it would be great if it leaves a scar, it can be a token of love, don’t you think?”

Just as he spoke, a phone began ringing.

Sophia took out her phone and her expression instantly changed when she saw the caller ID.

From afar, Charles could make out that it was Nicole, and a cold look flashed in his eyes. “You don’t have to pick up if you don’t want to.”

“It’s alright.” Sophia licked her lips and picked up the phone. “Hello, Nicole.”

She wanted to find out what was her sister-in-law's motive!

“Where are you now? Are you with Mr. Harris?” Nicole asked.
