Sophia interrupted her. She looked tired like she had aged a few years in mere minutes. “Stop talking about it.”

“Sophia.” Megan was still trying to convince her. “Think about it. You can’t leave Dream Club anymore. These are all your colleagues. If you offend them, won’t your life be more difficult…”

She covered her mouth mid-sentence and apologized. “I’m sorry.”

“You’re right. There’s nothing to apologize for.” Sophia looked at her after lifting her head. She muttered, “But what can I do? I don’t want to forgive them.”

Megan wanted to say something but stopped just in time. After hesitating, she said, “It’s fine if you’ve already thought about it. I’ll return the money to them now.”

When Sophia was about to say yes, the door of the dorm was kicked open by someone. The people who should not be here, James White and his wife, were standing at the door.

Their faces were red. However, James’ face was red with anger while Jenny’s eyes were red from crying.

When Megan saw the two of them, her eyes brightened. She stood up immediately and greeted the two of them carefully. “Mr. White, Madam White, you two…”

Before she could finish, James walked past her and swung his hand at Sophia.

Megan parted her lips in shock.

However, his slap did not land on Sophia’s face. She stood there barefooted and stopped James’ hand. She said flatly, “You’re slapping someone at first glance? Are your manners just an act, Mr. White?”

It was hard to believe that this man used to spoil her. It did not matter what ridiculous things she did when she chased after Charles, he would always smile at her and never blamed her.

Thinking about it now, that might not be true love. Perhaps he had just been plotting to use her to for that marriage between them and the Harrises.

If he really loved her as a daughter, why would he abandon her the moment she got into trouble?

“Let go!” James roared. He tried to continue slapping her.

However, Sophia was too strong. In the end, he was unable to slap her. It was also difficult for him to retract his hand. He was stuck in the middle and was in an awkward situation.

Sophia scoffed. “Let go and let you continue slapping me? Sorry, but I’m not an idiot.”

“You…” James was breathing heavily from anger. He pointed at her with his other hand and said, “How do we have such a shameless and heartless daughter like you?”

Even though she told herself not to be hopeful toward her father, when she heard him saying that, Sophia still felt pain in her heart.

She licked her dried lips. “If I remember correctly, you chased me out of the house two years ago. In other words, I’m not one of you anymore.”

When he heard that, James’ eyes grew wide. He did not say anything after a very long time.

Megan watched this happening from one side and did not know what to say anymore. She bit her lip. There was an unknown expression on her face. It was as if she was trying hard to hide something.

Sophia was usually scared that James would have a heart attack again, so she rarely said triggering things to him. However, when she saw him speechless from anger, the weird feeling of revenge made her feel pained and gleeful at the same time.

She stared at him. “You don’t want a shameless and heartless daughter like me, and I don’t want a father who is saying one thing but means something different. I don’t want a father who only prioritizes profits, is cold-blooded, selfish, and vain!”

She did not even stop to take a breather when she said that long sentence.

James’ face turned purple after he heard this. He pointed at Sophia while baring his teeth. “You… Cough, cough…”

“James, hurry, take your medicine.” Jenny took out the pill bottle with trembling hands. She then put the medicine next to his mouth. After that, she ordered Sophia out of habit, “Soph, fetch your father a glass of water.”

Sophia did not move. She sat down immediately. “I’m sorry, Madam White. We don’t have the water that Mr. White normally drinks.”

“Soph, you’re still trying to be stubborn in this urgent time?” Jenny turned her head and looked at her when she failed her expectations. Tears started streaming out from her red eyes again.

Before Sophia could say anything, James took the pill in Jenny’s hand and put it in his mouth. “I won’t drink the water she gives me. It’s filthy!”

“Mr. and Madam White, don’t you want to know why Sophia did that? You slapped, berated, and scolded her the moment you got here. Don’t you think you’ve gone overboard?” Megan stood in front of the two and said with a gloomy face.

Sophia looked at her with her head tilted. There was a hint of surprise in her eyes. She did not expect Megan to stand up for her.

“This is our business. You don’t understand.” James’ face was red after being criticized by Megan. He was furious but still had to watch his image. He spoke to her gently and did not lose his temper toward her.

Jenny was unhappy with what Megan said. She wiped the tears from her eyes and came to a realization. “No wonder Soph is speaking so crudely now. She never talked back to us before this. Did you ask Soph to treat us like this?”

She could not accept the fact that her spoilt and pampered daughter was now treating her like she was her enemy.

Megan’s face turned green, then pale. She wanted to swear at her, but since they had a huge family background and were also Sophia’s parents, she did not say anything.

“Whatever I do is none of her business.” Sophia frowned. “Please leave. You’re not welcomed here.”
