NOAH
Something had happened. I could feel it, but I also saw it on Madeleine. And I rushed to her.
“Are you okay? What happened?” I asked her to begin checking her for visible marks that might explain it.
“I am good, and it is not me. But I need to tell you something, and I need you to listen.” She tells me.
“Of course, I will listen,” I promise her.
“Juliette is awake, and she felt the presence of her second chance mate.” She begins, and I smile.
“But that is a good thing,” I say, and she nods her head.
“What’s wrong?” I ask when she seems nervous.
“First, I need you to know I fully accept it, and I hold no grudges of any kind.” She says, and I look at her carefully.
“As long Juliette is happy, that’s what matters,” I tell her.
“Her mate is Gina.” She says, and I am shocked.
“Gina?” I ask and look at her, and she nods her head.
“Well, Gina is not a bad person, and I hope when Juliette learns about it, you know. That she won’t judge her or me.” I say quietly.
“She already knows. Her wolf communicated with Gina’s. So Juliette knew when she woke up. And she accepted Gina, and Gina accepted her.” Madeleine tells me.
“I am happy for them. They both deserve happiness and a new chance to feel this kind of love. So I think this is good.” I tell her, and she nods her head and smiles.
“But it made me realize something.” She whispers and comes close enough to kiss me.
“But.” I begin, and he stops me by kissing me again.
“Don’t do that. If you begin to insist, I will lose my control. I say not tonight, as your dad and his pack come tomorrow. He will need your help, so exhausting you from completing our bond is a bad idea.” He whispers against my lips, and I know he is right.
“You're right. Thank you.” I whisper, and he kisses me again.
Since this morning by the waterfall, our kiss has been intense and more hungry, but still full of care and passion, and love.
“I love you, Noah. I have since we met at the ball. I felt drawn to you and had a crush on you. And those feelings grew as I got closer to being eighteen. But I thought I could never be what a king could need by his side. And then I began feeling as you came closer to find me, and I realized it was the matebond. And this is not just because of the matebond, and I really do love you.” I whisper, and his eyes have turned softer than I have ever seen.
“You caught my attention the second I saw you. Your sweet voice sent shivers down my back, and I kept my eyes on you. I saw how you helped an Elder from not falling. And then I saw you at the waterfall. That night, a lot happened, and first, I didn’t know if it was stress that made me see you like this. But then we collided in the hall, and I felt sparks. To let you go was the hardest thing I have ever done. But as I waited, I realized my feelings grew.” He whispers back and kisses me before he continues.
“I love you, Madeleine. And I will do so for the rest of my life, not just because of the matebond. But because you inspire me, intrigue me in ways I cannot explain. My heart is yours.” He whispers, and I kiss him.
