I went home alone.
After returning. I found the medical kit in the living room and disinfected, medicated, and bandaged my wounds myself.
The wounds stung with fine, sharp pain, like countless ants gnawing at them.
After putting away the medical kit, I inadvertently noticed the guitar in the corner of the living room.
Ferris had brought it home as a gift one day when he was in a good mood, saying he would teach me to play.
But so much time had passed, and thick dust had accumulated on the guitar.
Just like our relationship–it had long been covered in dust.
While I was bandaging, my phone kept ringing incessantly. Looking at the call log, Ferris had left me several messages.
When are you moving back?]
Enough already. I’ve explained to you, and you hurt someone. Ashley didn’t even hold it against you, yet you’re the one throwing a tantrum?]
Even through text, Ferris’s irritation was clearly visible.
My relationship with Ashley isn’t what you’re speculating. She just returned to the pack, so it’s appropriate for me to take care of her. Can’t you be more >bedient and understanding?]
Jnderstanding?
This word stabbed into my heart like a knife. I clenched my hands, and the scalded area throbbed with pain again.
was already being understanding enough to prepare to withdraw. How much more understanding did I need to be?
Say something!]
‘erhaps seeing that I hadn’t responded, this completely enraged Ferris, and he sent a final message.
Milo said mockingly: “She actually has the nerve to talk about healing and saving people. Has she forgotten that a month ago she botched a surgery, and you had o save the day?”
1 said nothing, just continued looking through the data at hand.
Mark also saw the news footage, but he was clearly uninterested. He just glanced at it and continued reading the materials, saying calmly:
“A few days ago, Ferris asked me to a business negotiation. Only when I got to the restaurant did I realize he wanted to introduce Ashley to me, to have her become my student.”
My hands organizing the materials paused.
Uncontrollably, scenes from the past flooded my mind–when I was putting my all into research and treatment, Ferris repeatedly discouraged me with “you can’t do it well anyway, you might as well return to family life,” even forcing me to quit my job.
But now, when it came to Ashley, not only did he not oppose it, he actively intervened to introduce her to Mark–a top healer with an almost unshakeable position in the industry.
Such blatant favoritism–how could it not hurt?
After hearing this, Milo was stunned and asked Mark carefully: “So… we won’t be getting an additional junior sister or anything, right?”
