Chapter 317
Ferris was extremely excellent at work and played piaffo divinely, but aside from cooking, he could barely handle any household chores.
Watching him nearly get splattered by hot oil several mes, I involuntarily stepped forward: “Let me do it.”
But Ferris’s tall figure didn’t move aside. He turned to look at me, his tone carrying stubbornness: “Don’t worry, this is bought from outside. I’m just heating it up – it’s edible.”
He thought I was afraid his cooking would taste bad, so he explained.
I raised an eyebrow: “You who can’t cook – how did you stir–fry these dishes so well today?”
“Just be careful not to burn your hands,” he replied simply.
I didn’t want to conflate yesterday’s incident with the present situation, and I didn’t want to make things too difficult for him, so I walked to the dining table and sat down, quietly waiting for him.
Watching Ferris’s busy yet unfamiliar figure, I couldn’t help but remember what Ashley had once said- that Ferris would personally cook a whole table of dishes for me.
I remembered the photos she posted on social media – that table of food looked like it was made by a professional chef.
But recent interactions made me understand that Ferris truly couldn’t cook. Ashley must have deliberately exaggerated back then.
As my thoughts drifted, Ferris had already brought the dishes to the table: “Let’s eat.”
I came back to my senses and took the utensils: “Thank you.”
While eating, I couldn’t help asking: “Did you really not know how to cook before?”
He thought I was criticizing him: “Whatever Dennis can do, I can do too.”
My face was covered with a layer of frost: “If you keep being so passive–aggressive, I’m going home.”
He was clearly stunned for a moment, and his tone immediately became much gentler: “I can’t cook, but I
can learn.”

Seeing his attitude improve, I didn’t say anything more and focused on eating.
During pregnancy, my appetite was larger than before I didn’t dare control it, fearing it would affect the fetus’s nutrition absorption.
After eating my fill, Ferris actually got up to wash the dishes.
I was about to help when he stopped me: “Go rest. I’ll wash them.”
I was still somewhat unwilling: “It’s fine. You cook, I wash dishes- we should divide things clearly.”
Before I finished speaking, he swept me up in his arms and placed me on the sofa. As he left, he lowered his voice: “About yesterday I was wrong.”
Watching his departing figure, I couldn’t help thinking was he so shy that even apologizing made him like this?
I sat on the sofa resting for a while, then began handling work.
Hannah reported the company’s latest operating status: “Boss, at this rate, we’ll soon make an astronomical amount.”
“When are you coming back? Eric came looking for me, saying he wanted to see you and hoped you’d help him revise his thesis.”
I responded: “It’s almost New Year. I’ll have to wait until after.”
Hannah nodded regretfully. I put down my phone, thinking that most of the overseas company’s busi was handled by employees anyway – I just needed to grasp the general picture.
The house was too quiet, so I casually turned on the TV and flipped channels, my gaze stopping on
entertainment news.
On screen, Ashley, who I hadn’t seen in a long time, was sitting in front of the camera, tearfully apologizing.
“Here I want to apologize to my fans… I don’t expect forgiveness, I just want to make achievements through my own efforts to repay everyone…”
Her words essentially pushed all responsibility onto others.
When Ferris finished cleaning up and came out, I had already turned off the TV. He didn’t know, or rather didn’t remember Ashley’s situation. If he remembered, he would probably send her to a mental
