My heart suddenly clenched.

Work couldn’t stop. I had recently completed an improved version of an antiviral agent with breakthroughs in ingredient ratios and absorption rates. An international pharmaceutical company’s boss was interested in this project and proposed a face–to–face meeting to discuss cooperation and profit sharing.

The person was in this city. I organized my materials early and prepared contract documents, wanting to secure this deal.

Because of the previous “breakup fee” I gave Ferris, my funds were tight. If this cooperation could be negotiated, it would be enough to sustain my independent laboratory for several years.

We met at a five–star hotel. The company representative was from Los Angeles reportedly well–funded. He wore a standard custom suit, was tall, and had an imposing presence.

“Miss Moonveil?” When he saw me, he was obviously stunned, probably not expecting the mysterious legendary medical researcher to be a young

woman.

“That’s me.” I extended my hand. “Pleasure to meet you.”

He gripped my hand with what seemed like a sincere smile, but his gaze made me instinctively uncomfortable.

I was about to withdraw my hand when he suddenly tightened his grip, his eyes roaming over my face: “Miss, you’re very beautiful.”

I wasn’t unfamiliar with harassment. Young, independent women in business always attracted unwelcome attention.
