Chapter 171
Just after arriving at the manor and having breakfast with Ferris, I received a text from Victoria.
“Come upstairs, let’s meet and talk.”
The same commanding tone as always. Without needing to meet her, I could imagine her arrogant expression at this
moment.
I told Ferris about this.
He said indifferently: “If you don’t want to go, refuse.”
I couldn’t tell if he was considering my feelings or just being polite.
“I can go,” I replied, then got up to leave.
In the garden, Victoria wore a plain–colored qipao and was personally watering the flowers. Seeing me approach, she handed the watering can to a nearby maid.
“Replace all the ones that don’t bloom.”
“Yes.”
She said this deliberately in front of me.
Not blooming naturally referred to my not bearing children.
I understood of course, but remained composed and approached calmly.
We got into the car one after another. The cabin was quiet for a while.
Victoria rarely spoke in a peaceful tone: “Do you know? I recently met a child, especially adorable, who looks almost exactly like Ferris did as a child.”
She sighed and continued:
“Unfortunately, it’s not our Ferris’s child.”
I suppressed the irritation in my heart and replied lightly: “You should know that Ferris and I not having children isn’t just my problem.”
