Alpha's Regret: False Mate, True Luna novel Chapter 155

Chapter 155

Ferris’s heart surged with unwillingness and anger, but he suppressed it all forcefully. He cupped my face with his hands and kissed me without warning, his actions nearly rough.

I stared in shock, only then noticing the injury on his hand, lood still flowing from his knuckles.

But I felt no sympathy.

I struggled free from his embrace and said coldly: “Have you forgotten what I said? I won’t honor our agreement anymore.”

His lips fell on my cheek, his breathing heavy as if suppressing something, his voice hoarse and low:

“I owe Ashley, I must repay her.”

“Owe her?” My voice suddenly rose, something igniting in my eyes, “What about you? Don’t you owe me anything?”

My throat felt blocked by cotton, sour and hard to swallow.

Ashley saved your life, so you tolerate her, protect her, indulge her.

But what about me? You think you owe her a life, but what about me saving you? Have you forgotten? How do you think you survived!

But Ferris didn’t know my true thoughts, only thinking I was complaining about three years of neglect.

He compromised in a low voice: “I promise, I’ll live properly with you from now on.”

This was the first time he had ever bowed his head to anyone.

If this had been a few months ago, I would have wept with joy.

But now, I could only laugh coldly.

“I’m tired, I want to rest.”

Just as I was about to dodge away, Ferris swept me up in his arms and strode back into the house.

The night was deep.

I was forcibly held by Ferris, unable to move.

He wasn’t asleep either, his eyes closed but his mind full of the scene when I had disappeared tonight, his heartbeat still not completely calm.

Chapter 155

The wound on his hand was still bleeding, aching faintly, but nowhere near as obvious as the heartache.

After a long while, I suddenly spoke: “Can I ask… about Ashley saving you?”

He was stunned for a moment, then recounted the past events:

Years ago, he had been ambushed by rogues on the battlefield. To protect his subordinate werewolves‘ retreat, he stayed behind alone, ultimately suffering severe injuries and developing multiple complications.

“Ashley was serving as a healer in the army at the time. She not only risked danger to save me from the rogues, getting seriously injured herself, but also donated her bone marrow to me, saving my life.”

After hearing this, I felt as if I had fallen into an ice cave.

Perhaps these years had been too bitter, too exhausting, being misunderstood, mocked, and neglected by him again and again…
