Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 18

Estelle's POV

No hooligans, no street fights or ramshackle streets. My curiosity was completely shattered. It was just an ordinary city with a lot of people living peacefully here. It even looked the same as the wolf pack I used to live in.

"Disappointed?" Ethan pulled up in front of a restaurant.

"It's obvious that you were scaring me on purpose before!" I fiercely slammed his car door.

"I don't remember what I told you."

Ethan led me into the restaurant and the atmosphere inside made me want to turn around and leave. It was clearly a restaurant for couples on a date, and everyone inside was dressed in formal wear, except me in skinny jeans and a t-shirt.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked Ethan in a whisper.

"The food here is delicious."

"You're playing with me! How am I supposed to get in like this?"

Ethan looked me up and down "I don't see what's wrong with you."

"I'm leaving."

"Are you going to drive yourself back?"

"You are unbelievable!"

"Keep your voice down, others are dining."

Shortly after, a manager-like man came out to greet us. He seemed to know Ethan, and we were led to a quiet and secluded table.

Ethan and I ate in silence for a while, the lights in the restaurant slowly dimmed, the waiter lit candles on our table and brought a random fresh red rose. I finally couldn't suppress the doubt and anger in my heart.

I asked Ethan, "What did you bring me here for?"

"Eat, I remember I gave you that a long time ago." Ethan forked a piece of meat into his own mouth.

"If you don't make it clear, I'm going to slap this plate of baby lamb chops on your freshly done hair."

"You calm down!"

As I held the plate in my hand, Ethan hurriedly spoke up, "Our Alpha asked me to show you the rest of the territory."

"That's it?"

"That's it."

"Then why did you bring me to this restaurant?"

"It's a restaurant I really like, and the owner and I are friends."

"Why didn't you tell me this earlier?"

"You think I'm going to pick you up?" Ethan propped his chin on his hand, his green eyes becoming much softer in the candlelight.

"Absolutely not!" I lowered my head and looked at the food on my plate.

Lance can sense that you're avoiding him, he's much more perceptive than we are." He laughed softly "Lance is not as bad as you think, especially to you.

"So that's why he asked you to bring me out?"

"You have to fit in with us. Even putting aside your status as hemate, you are part of our wolf pack."

"Do I look that out of place?"

"You're too closed off from yourself, I've never seen a girl like you. You sometimes give the impression of a lone wolf licking its wounds alone."

"......" I can't deny Ethan's words because of my family and my pathetic life. There is no one I can spill my guts to, and I have to go home and bandage myself when I get hurt.

"Welcome, and this is?" The guard immediately recognized him.

"She's a friend of mine."

The security guard opened the mysterious door for us, and the moment I stepped inside I understood why Ethan said this was the hottest place. This is a nightclub, yes, it has the same deafening music and dim lights as other nightclubs. But it also has its own character everywhere.

Not to mention the art-like furnishings, the smell of alcohol and tobacco in the air can reflect its "expensive". Everyone's face here is full of confidence, their limited luxury goods can open an exhibition. Even a random waiter is able to be a level of Internet celebrity on the INS.

I think Ethan is definitely screwing with me, and my jeans probably don't cost as much as a glass of water for them. I tried to find a crack in the floor and get in, but underneath my feet was an entire floor cut out of marble.

Ethan didn't notice my embarrassment as he took me straight into the VIP area. There were a lot of sexy dressed women looking at me in surprise who didn't even have access to the VIP area. And I wore my discounted jeans and entered the most expensive part of the store.

"You look like you need a drink to get you to relax."

"I don't drink."

"No one will care about you here."

I took the glass from Ethan's hand and took a sip. The alcohol irritated the tip of my tongue a little painfully, then tingling.

"Nice, drink a little more. We'll be ready for the dance floor."

Ethan covered his chin with his cup, his green eyes roaming the room. It was the look of total predation. I've heard Mia talk about Ethan. He's never been in a relationship for more than three months, but there are plenty of girls who still pursue him. And many of those ex-girlfriends he dumped begged Ethan to stay with him.

I always thought that if it wasn't for Ethan being Beta of the Wolf Pack, he would have died a horrible death on the streets.

I said I didn't know how to dance, but Ethan pulled me hard onto the dance floor anyway. By the time he let go, I couldn't see him anymore. It was too loud and there were too many people. Many faces shifted in front of my eyes as the lights changed. I hurriedly squeezed out of the crowd. I don't know if it was the alcohol, but my whole body felt dizzy.

After squeezing out of the crowd, I walked in the direction of the bar. I was in desperate need of a glass of ice water, but just then, I saw a strange man.

He was tall and dressed in a dark suit. The man's face revealed an alarming pallor, and his platinum blond hair covered his eyes. He seemed to notice me as well, and he looked over at me. In the dim light, I could see a deep red color in his dark pupils. He walked past me, and I smelled a hint of blood on him.

This man was so strange, he gave me an eerie feeling. I turned back to take another look at the man, but he had disappeared. Am I seeing a ghost? I looked for the man in the crowd, but there were so many people here that there was no light blond hair in the crowd at all.
