Estelle's POV

I wiped the water off myself, and Mia had an apologetic look on her face. I saw Ethan's ever-present smirk in front of me. God, I shuddered. I thought I'd rather be Lance's mate.

"I'm sorry, I didn't expect you to react so badly. A lot of girls in our wolf pack like Ethan, and certainly a lot of them have been in love with him."

I couldn't deny that Ethan was a very attractive werewolf with a handsome face and a knack for dealing with girls. He seemed like the kind of guy who gives you the most romantic experience and then says goodbye to you. But there were still many girls who jumped into his trap with no regrets.

"How did you come up with this?"

"I'm still curious," Mia said, pestering me, "and Ethan takes you very seriously."

Mia was right, he seemd to be afraid of me getting hurt. I didn't know if Lance had Ethan watching over me or if Ethan was doing it out of protection for Alpha's mate. It must all have something to do with Lance, Ethan was in awe of his Alpha even though he seemed full of himself.

"Our Alpha, what do you think he's like?" I asked Mia.

"Alpha? He rarely takes action in front of us, but everyone knows he's the strongest. There's no one in the whole north who doesn't fear him." Mia spoke of Lance with pride in her voice.

This made me laugh, "I know this, is there anything else?"

"And? I always thought Alpha was much more handsome than Ethan, but he was so high up that not many girls dared to go near him." Mia whispered in my ear, afraid of who heard the same, "and he hasn't had a mate, but people do not say anything about it."

"Is it about that curse?" I asked Mia.

"You know. But it's because of this Skyler keeps pestering Alpha."

"Skyler keeps pestering the Alpha?" How could it be her again? A twinge of displeasure floated up inside me.

"Every time Alpha came to watch us train, she was desperate like crazy to get Alpha's attention."

"She does seem like that."

"Yeah, but Alpha treats us all the same. One time she tried to take advantage of a training session to jump on Alpha, but Alpha just yanked her and threw her off the sideline of the field and the match was over."

I could just imagine Skyler's face exploding with anger as Mia and I filled the room with laughter.

"I have to be honest with you, I'm actually very afraid of losing you as a friend."

"What? Are you actually really Ethan's mate? I can live with that."

"Stop it."

"I don't actually own my own wolf yet."

"What?!" Mia sniffed hard in the air, "But you smell like a total werewolf."

"Yeah, that's what my father said. The wolf pack's doctor also said I was healthy, but I just don't have a wolf."

"That's all I have to say." I looked at Mia, waiting for her to say something mean and then slam the door and leave.

Mia looked at me and suddenly realized, "I told you. You should have been able to avoid that volleyball."

"Wait, that's all you're going to say?"

"Yeah, you have to be more careful with Skyler in the future, she's going to get you hurt, just like today." Looking at Mia's frank gaze, I didn't know what to say instead.

"Thank you, will you help me keep this a secret?"

"Of course!" I couldn't resist giving Mia a big hug, and she smiled and whispered in my ear, "Your hair is tickling me."

Mia and I talked until dark, and my father wasn't home when she left. Not knowing what he had found to drink again, I was about to contact my father. Then I got a call from Ethan on my cell phone.

"Get downstairs, now!" Ethan's voice was a rush I hadn't heard before.

Ethan's car was parked in front of the house, and I rushed to the door without even putting on my shoes.

"Don't even think about it. If you try to try to enter our wolf pack's territory, I will kill you."

"So you just robbed other wolves from the pack?" Anthony's voice was getting agitated, and I hated it when people talked to me in that tone of voice.

"They're not from the other wolves. They are my people, sworn to."

"How dare you make them swear to you? You are lower than your father, you human trafficker."

"Watch your language!" It took all my life's upbringing to suppress my anger. If he said one more word like that, I would make him pay in blood.

I didn't know if Anthony heard my emotions, but he lowered his volume. "I must see them."

"Is this your way of declaring war on me?" My tone had reached the freezing point, and any of his men who dared to come near my territory would be considered to be at war.

The other side fell into silence, and I hoped he was regretting that he had just said something stupid. Every wolf pack in the north wanted to get rid of me, and they even formed an alliance once. But none of the wolf packs had the courage, or the ability to fight into our pack. While they were still wandering around next to my territory, my people had long aimed at their heads.

My phone kept vibrating with a message from Ethan. He must have heard my argument with Anthony, and his message said that Estelle was on her way. I didn't know what he was bringing Estelle for, and I didn't want to get Estelle involved in these arguments. But my sanity still told me to trust my beta.

And there was a voice from Anthony, "I don't want to go to war, but I want to make sure they're safe."

"I'll turn on the video so you can see Marvin's daughter." I hoped Ethan didn't do something useless.

"Good."

It didn't take long for Ethan to come over with Estelle. It seemed Ethan had told Estelle everything, and she walked around the table to my side. The scent of orange blossoms made me feel a little better. But Estelle's words immediately broke my good mood, and she said to Anthony on the other side of the screen gladly,

"Alpha Anthony. Long time no see."

"It's you?" Anthony had a surprised look on his face.

"Wait, did you two know each other? When?"
