When the Iron Mountain side, led by Poki and the other level 15s, went through the array, they were understandably quite tense.
Nearly ten thousand people came through the array. Their instruction, however, was to stay put until their Assist arrived and signalled for them to come.
There were apparently helpers from Alterra who would head there on foot or by car. Most of the people who went to war had only heard of Alterra’s military might, so they really didn’t know what to expect.
But when they saw dozens of level 20-plus powerhouses taking down sentry and enemy arrows like they were nothing, and when they saw powerhouses like half-orcs easily block attacks, they could only be shocked.
Imagine: The enemies showered them with arrows, but a large gust of wind rendered them useless. Watching all the arrows in a section get caught or deflected, as if they weren’t there at all.
Of course, they did not dare to be complacent. The powerhouse Alterrans could not enter enemy territory, after all. Beyond the walls, it was all up to them!
Their team was divided into two teams, making breaches through weak spots that the Assists had located before the war even started. They added a few distractions on top of that.
After they started to breach, more and more people entered as quietly as possible. It was when they managed to take over the sections they entered—that was to say, they neutralized the guards and citizens there—that they started with the next phase of the plan.
Their spies, as well as other people who had entered, began burning quite a few things in random places, creating smoke in several parts of the territory and confusing the enemies while separating their forces.
It was also a signal for the rest of them to go all-out, and there was no longer a need to be low-key.
The Alterran powerhouses were tasked to focus on entering, pushing back enemy forces with the sole purpose—not of murder and damage—but of letting more of their people inside!
With swift and clean attacks, and with the powerhouses shielding the Iron Mountains fighters from attacks, the population managed to go through without a hitch!
Things happened so fast that the enemy barely had a chance to react!
By the time the enemies had mobilized nearly all of their forces towards the breaches, a good portion of the Iron Mountain citizens who went through the array had already passed through!
Everyone just had to use their shields or the buildings to protect themselves. They were asked to keep their groups and formation and only attack citizens when they had to; otherwise, there was no need to go on hunts.
After all, to win a war, they only had to enter with most of the people who went through the array, not with the number of people they killed to get there.
To many aborigines, this was an incredibly novel way of warfare, but in retrospect, it made so much more sense.
If they were going to win, this meant they were going to get half of the enemy’s assets. Why would they insist on damaging them?
"IF YOU DON’T WANT TO GET HURT! HIDE INSIDE YOUR HOUSES!" they yelled, using the handheld sound amplifiers they had (there were plenty of sets going around, all sold from Alterra’s Specialty Store).
