After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 861

This city really was as bustling as everyone said, and York was serious about making a life here. He wanted to settle down, build something real, and finally leave his old ways behind.

At The Adams Group, things were as hectic as ever. In the CEO’s office, Ethan sat behind a desk buried in paperwork.

Ever since he started trying to win back his ex-wife, Ethan had gone from being a total workaholic to someone who barely showed up at the office. Now, it was rare to see him spend a whole day working.

Jeremy complained about it all the time. With Ethan barely around, the extra work landed squarely on him, and he was exhausted. He worked late into the night every day, but there was always more to do. No wonder the other cousins wanted nothing to do with the family business. The responsibility was overwhelming.

Honestly, Jeremy had to admit he was impressed that Ethan had managed to handle all of this for so many years.

It used to be different. Back then, Jeremy was just the vice president, helping Ethan out while Keith pitched in too. He could even take weekends off. Now, weekends were a thing of the past. He had to bring work home just to keep up.

This afternoon, Ethan was actually in the office for once, so Jeremy took the opportunity to dump all his unfinished files onto Ethan’s desk.

When Ethan actually focused, he got things done fast.

“Jeremy, are you really that bored?” Ethan finally looked up at him, his tone dry. “If you’ve got nothing to do, you can take these files back with you.”

Jeremy quickly shook his head. “No way, Ethan. I’m swamped. I barely have time for a drink of water. Honestly, this is the only place I get a break,” he said, raising his glass with a tired smile.

“Are you taking Isabella to dinner tonight? I can cover any work dinners or meetings for you,” Jeremy offered.
