Chapter 490 In the Police Station
Michael shuddered, his eyes fixed on the truck halted at the distant traffic light. His face turned grim.
Without hesitation, he jumped into his car, with Quinn quickly sliding into the passenger seat.
They sped off in pursuit of the truck.
But as the light turned green, the truck wobbled forward again.
Michael floored the gas pedal, and a sudden acceleration prompted Quinn to back into his seat.
Suddenly, flashing red and green lights appeared ahead, and their car was pulled over for speeding.
Michael slammed the steering wheel in frustration.
The traffic officer approached his window. "License and registration, please."
Quinn cursed under his breath. The truck had already vanished.
Michael handed over his license quickly. "Can you hurry? I have an urgent matter."
The officer frowned. "That's quite an attitude. You were speeding seriously, and now you want us to hurry? You're coming with us to the station."
Michael grew agitated. "I can't go to the station!"
If he left now, what would happen to Chloe?
"We are not negotiating with you."
The officer indicated that Michael's license would be suspended.
Left with no option, they were both taken to the station, losing all hope of catching the truck.
Quinn, equally frustrated, glared at Michael. "This is all your fault."
"My fault? Why didn't you drive?" Michael retorted.
Michael was upset either.
At the station, Michael insisted on calling his lawyer.
The officer who brought them in didn't object, as it was within his rights.
"Officer, can I leave?" Quinn asked, feeling somewhat wronged.
After all, he wasn't the one driving, and Chloe was still missing. He couldn't stay here with Michael and do nothing.
The officer glanced at him and asked, "What's your relationship with him?"
Quinn's eyes darted around. "I don't know him. He's a taxi driver."
Michael nearly swore but bit his tongue.
"Quinn, that's not funny."
Quinn rubbed his temples. "I'm not joking."
Knowing Quinn rarely joked, Candy put down her fork immediately.
"What happened?"
"Let's talk about it when we get back to Urban Lane."
Quinn needed access to a computer to track Chloe's whereabouts.
Candy hung up and grabbed her coat, leaving Wesley at the table, bewildered.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"I'll be with you tomorrow. I have something urgent today. Be good!"
She waved him off like he was a dog, which annoyed him.
But Candy was already rushing out of the restaurant.
When she arrived at Urban Lane, she saw the delivery person with Chloe's order. They stared at each other before Candy extended her hand. "I'll take that. I ordered it."
Inside, Quinn was already checking the surveillance footage. She saw Chloe's phone on the table, confirming her friend's disappearance.
