A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 341

Just as Starla expected, Fairfax was still in a meeting with the board when Darleen’s calls started coming, one after another.

The directors and all the major shareholders were already furious about the Hoggart Group situation, so Fairfax hadn’t even brought his phone into the conference room. Each time Darleen called, Gabriel answered.

“Mrs. Yelchin,” he said respectfully.

“Get Fairfax on the phone. Now!”

Even through the phone, Gabriel could tell how utterly incensed she was.

“I’m sorry, but Mr. Yelchin is in a meeting right now,” Gabriel explained.

“What kind of meeting? I’m about to die! If he doesn’t come back and throw that bitch out, I swear I will die!”

Gabriel sighed, a headache forming. Darleen’s enraged shouting was almost painful to listen to. Fairfax had given strict orders not to be disturbed for any reason, and Gabriel didn't dare interrupt him.

“You tell him it’s all gone! Everything’s been burned to the ground!” Darleen shrieked.

“What’s been burned?”

The words sent a jolt of alarm through Gabriel. He immediately thought of the fire at Petal Villa a few days ago, and the one at Harriet’s Vista Bay estate. Now Darleen was talking about fire, too. Could it be Starla?

“Heron Estate, Gemfield Manor, and over in Xenia's name, Azure Haven and Embrooke Garden—they’re all gone! Everything is gone!”
