A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1107

Things in Cyrus Sea were already spiraling out of control. An all-out war between Fairfax and Yardley was inevitable. Fairfax was far too obsessed. Amos wasn't even sure if, forced to choose between his family and Starla again, Fairfax wouldn't just pick his family. That prior choice had brought him enough regret, and if he repeated it, Amos would lose all remaining respect for him. But then again, it was an impossible choice.

"I really can't help him. Let's just head to Sylvan Vale," Amos decided. They could come back and sweep up the ashes after Fairfax and Yardley finished tearing each other apart.

"Sounds good to me," Yvonne agreed. She had been thinking the exact same thing. If they stayed, the crossfire would definitely drag them in, and Amos wouldn't have a choice but to get involved.

News traveled fast. Fairfax quickly learned that Amos was packing up to take Yvonne on a vacation that very afternoon. Hearing this, Fairfax confronted him with a mocking sneer.

"You're just trying to avoid helping me, aren't you?" he accused. He was on the brink of war with Yardley, and Amos was going on a vacation? The man didn't even bother coming up with a decent excuse. Was this really the time for a holiday?

"My hands are tied," Amos shrugged nonchalantly. "You know me. I spoil my wife."

Fairfax's expression darkened. He had just lost his wife, and Amos was flaunting his marital bliss?

"Yvonne really wants to go. What can I do?" Amos's casual dismissal made the impending bloodbath seem like a minor inconvenience. Fairfax glared at him, his lips pressed into a thin line.
