Yardley's aggressive move was clearly designed to stop him from pursuing Herbert. But why?
Why prevent him from finding Herbert? Could it be...
A wild, turbulent wave of hope crashed into Fairfax's chest. *God, I hope my theory is right.* If it was true, it would be a miracle! Right now, he didn't care about anything else—he just wanted her to be alive. And if she was alive, there was absolutely no way he was signing those papers! But his entire family had been captured. Yardley was utterly ruthless.
Meanwhile, Yvonne's subordinates informed her that Yardley's men had arrived to force the divorce. She wasn't surprised in the least.
"If I were her sister, I'd do the exact same thing," Yvonne stated flatly. Starla had wanted nothing more than to rid herself of that man. Of course her family would ensure her final wish was honored.
Amos sighed. "It's going to be a massive headache if he refuses to sign. Yardley pulling this stunt now is just... awful."
Amos rubbed his temples. If Fairfax dug his heels in, Cyrus Sea was going to turn into a war zone. Even if they managed to fend off Yardley's forces, the collateral damage would be devastating.
