Now, his mother and sister were perfectly fine, just confined to a building.
Herbert raised an eyebrow. "He's been taking care of them on the inside?"
"Yes, sir," Rudolf nodded. "They are his mother and sister, after all. No matter how angry he is, he wouldn't just watch them suffer indefinitely."
The smirk on Herbert's face deepened. "Make sure that little piece of news finds its way to Starla," he said, his voice laced with dark amusement.
She wanted to stand by Fairfax, did she? Then she needed a front-row seat to see exactly what kind of man he was, to see if he was truly worth going back to.
Women were always so soft-hearted. It hadn't even been that long since the disaster in Marina City, and she was already forgetting the pain.
"Yes, sir," Rudolf agreed. "If she hears about this, she'll definitely pick a fight with him. That'll work perfectly for our operation."
Herbert didn't reply to that. He had never intended to drag Starla into his feud with Fairfax. He knew how much she despised being used. She was incredibly sensitive to it now, and even the slightest hint of manipulation would set her off. Because of that, he didn't dare actively scheme against her anymore.
...
Miles away at Cyrus Sea, the news reached Starla quickly.
She learned that Xenia and Darleen were doing exceptionally well. They had private rooms. She even saw photos of their living conditions—if someone hadn't told her it was a prison, she would have assumed they were staying in a luxury resort.
