A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1021

Over in Sylvan Vale, Starla relayed the latest news to Tanya in Maxlandia.

"I saw it all," Tanya said over the phone. Even from half a world away, she was keeping a close eye on the headlines coming out of Marina City.

Yulisa had been thrown to the wolves.

The same vicious media storm that had once drowned Tanya was now completely swallowing Yulisa whole.

"Darian asked me to let Yulisa go," Starla told her. "I told him I'd do it in a week."

"A week?" Tanya sounded confused. "I thought the deal was that once this played out and they took the fall, you'd release her? Why push it back another week?"

"If I let her go right now, the Lynn family will immediately suppress the PR crisis. Yulisa would walk away with barely a scratch on her reputation."

Tanya went silent for a moment before letting out a soft sigh. "You're right."

Back when Tanya was the one suffering, Darian had acted like it was no big deal, brushing it off by saying the public couldn't exactly break into her house and physically hurt her. But now that it was Yulisa in the crosshairs, his tune had completely changed.

Chances were, he already had a crisis management team ready to bury the scandal the second Yulisa was back in his arms. He wanted to minimize her damage.

But Starla was demanding a week.

Seven full days. If Yulisa was dragged through the mud for an entire week, even Darian wouldn't be able to salvage her image. Her reputation would be permanently destroyed.

"How do you even think of these things?" Tanya asked, a genuine smile in her voice. It felt incredible having a fiercely protective friend like Starla, someone who caught every detail she missed.

"I'm just giving them exactly what they gave you," Starla replied coolly. "If we're returning the favor, we might as well give them the full package."

Tanya had been publicly humiliated for days. Why should Yulisa only suffer for a few hours?

"Thank you, Starla."
