Jeremy simply stared at Melody.
In truth, the feeling of not getting a clear answer was starting to frustrate him. He had thought that Melody was a bit slow, but he'd never imagined that she would be this irritatingly clueless.
But Melody truly couldn't figure out what else Jeremy wanted to hear. She had apologized for what she needed to, and she had thanked him as well. What else could she say?
In the end, she could only look around at the warm-toned décor and quietly say, "If you don't like the decoration, I can call a cleaning service to come take care of it. Or I can clean it up for you now."
Jeremy's breathing had become heavier. He raised his hand to undo the cufflinks on his sleeves, then loosened a few more buttons on his shirt, exposing a large area of his chest.
He lowered his gaze and began walking toward Melody without saying a word.
Melody sensed the pressure coming from him.
She couldn't control her nervousness and instinctively took a step back. She looked up at him, trying to read what little emotion he had on his face. But unfortunately, she couldn't figure anything out.
All she could feel was danger.
This invasive feeling was something she rarely felt when she was Jeremy. It was almost like the wildness in his core had been triggered—he was trying to mark his territory.
In the span of just a few steps, Jeremy had leaned in close.
Melody turned around and prepared to leave. Her heart was racing.
But after taking just two steps, Jeremy grabbed her wrist. Before Melody could even react, he had yanked her back toward him.
Melody instinctively tried to push him away, her hands pressing against his exposed chest. But the warm touch of his skin made her fingertips burn.
Her usually clear eyes were now like a disturbed lake, frantically rippling in confusion. She turned her face away, not daring to meet Jeremy's gaze.
However, he grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him.
When their lips met, the taste of faint blood filled his mouth.
He was sensitive to the smell of blood. He disliked the rusty, nauseating scent, but before he could suppress his discomfort, the sweet fragrance that reminded him of milk and shower gel wafted into his nose again.
It miraculously soothed the agitation inside him.
He just wanted to take in more of this calming force.
More and more...
Melody had been completely pinned down by Jeremy, and he gave her almost no chance to resist. It felt as though the oxygen was being taken from her, and her body was going soft and weak.
But in Melody's mind, there was still the faintest clarity. As soon as Jeremy let go of her, she pushed him away.
She was overwhelmed by the lack of oxygen, and tears fell down her face as she clumsily wiped at them in a panic.
