A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 246

Krystal hummed in response. "They want me to go back tonight. Something came up with my parents."

When Krystal mentioned "parents", she was referring to her adoptive parents.

In fact, ever since returning to the Wardolf residence, she hadn't called them "Mom" or "Dad."

Jeremy was silent for a moment before saying, "I'll take you there."

Melody didn't take a cab home. Instead, she took the bus. One reason for this was because she was a bit reluctant to return to the Wardolf residence, and the other was to save money.

Andrew's threats had rung loud alarms in her mind. She was not only poor, but now, she also faced the risk of losing all her work.

Andrew's goal was clear—he wanted her to yield. He knew that she was still fixated on the issue of Regallo Charity Foundation's fraud, so he was trying to force her into submission through this tactic.

The bus rattled along, and Melody spent the ride deep in thought, preparing for all sorts of outcomes.

However, she didn't expect that when she arrived at the Wardolf residence, the first person she would see was Jeremy.

He was standing next to the small fountain, looking down at his phone, seemingly replying to a message. When he heard her arrive, he lifted his gaze.

It was dusk when Melody arrived.

Jeremy's eyes turned even colder. His voice, usually smooth and composed, carried a sharp chill this time. "Am I your assistant, at your beck and call?"

Melody paused, unsure of how to respond. She could only stammer, "Then what would be convenient for you?" She needed to get the documents for Echo, and it would be troublesome if something went wrong.

But Jeremy didn't answer. His cold demeanor and the chill radiating from him made it clear that he was in a bad mood.

Melody thought for a moment and concluded that he probably didn't want to see her now that they had broken up. That realization reminded her of how indifferent he had been whenever he faced her.

Her face paled slightly, her palms slowly clenched, and her voice became hoarse. "If you don't want to see me, you can give them to Dr. Franklin or Tiffany. I can pick it up from them."

Exactly as she'd expected, Jeremy's low, cold voice sounded above her head, "Since you know I don't want to see you, why don't you just leave the neurosurgery department?"
