A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 243

Jeremy's tone was calm and indifferent, as if he were merely stating a fact.

Melody happened to be standing under the light, so her skin looked particularly fair. Her bright eyes glowed even more brightly under the light too.

As Jeremy looked at her, he suddenly felt that there was too much distance between them.

He didn't like this distance.

He stopped himself from pursing his lips and was about to speak when another car pulled up.

It was Denvin. He didn't even get out of the car. He simply rolled down the window and coldly looked at Jeremy. "You're blocking me." Then he turned to Melody and raised an eyebrow. "Get in the car."

Before Melody could respond, Jeremy coldly said, "I'll take her home."

The words came out before Jeremy even had time to think. By the time he realized what he'd said, it was already too late.

The gloom in his eyes deepened.

He rarely acted faster than he thought. But now that he had said it, he couldn't take it back.

He turned his gaze back to Melody with slight impatience.

Normally, she would always be the one eager for him to drive her home. But now, when he took the initiative to offer, she rejected him.

His voice was cold as he said, "I don't know when you and Denvin got this close, but if you're smart enough, you should know what to choose now."

Denvin was a dangerous person, and Jeremy was reminding Melody of this.

Denvin sneered and mocked, saying, "So you're the high and mighty Dr. Chesson, the genius in medicine."

Melody sensed the arrogance in Jeremy's tone. She lowered her lashes, her fingers slowly curling into a tight fist in her palm.

Jeremy was always like this. He would throw her a little attention only when he was in a good mood or had some free time. Not to mention, it seemed like she was expected to be grateful for that little attention.

This was the first time Melody had chosen Denvin.

Jeremy's gaze darkened.

Emotions churned inside him, but he couldn't exactly figure out what emotions they were.

Just then, the sound of a group of people talking loudly interrupted him.

Caleb said in surprise, "Jeremy, I thought you skipped dinner and went straight home. Turns out you went back just to get the car. I've never ridden in a Maybach. Let me hitch a ride!"

Before Jeremy could respond, Krystal spoke up, "Would you mind giving me a ride later? I need to stop by the hospital to pick up some things for research."

Caleb raised his hands. "Guess I won't be riding in the Maybach then. You workaholics, can't you just live on another planet?"

From the beginning to the end, Jeremy didn't say a word.
