Everyone knew that Krystal was Denvin's biological sister.
However, before Melody could say anything, Denvin turned around and smiled at Harold. "Today's not the right time. I have something to do with Melody."
More than Denvin's refusal, what surprised Melody was the way he'd addressed her.
That was the first time Denvin had ever called in such an intimate tone.
But before she could fully process it, she heard Jeremy's voice.
Jeremy had just walked in from outside. He was still holding onto his phone, as though he had just finished a call.
His gaze immediately landed on Melody as he said in a low and cold voice, "I didn't know you two had something important to discuss."
The Chesson family and the Wardolf family had always had a good relationship. Jeremy had grown up with the Wardolf family's children. So, he had always known how Melody and Denvin's relationship was.
Denvin liked to target Melody, and Melody was afraid of him.
Every time she was bullied by Denvin, she would come looking for him. Hence, he had no idea when the two of them had accumulated so many secrets to discuss.
He stared at Melody, waiting for her to answer.
But it was Denvin who answered him.
He chuckled lightly. "You speak with such confidence. Do you think you have the right to interfere?" He stood in front of Melody with his chin slightly lifted. "Don't you know? It's better for an ex to stay dead."
But before he could shake off that thought, he heard Jeremy's emotionless voice say, "Even if we broke up, it's only expected."
Jeremy never really liked people who were slow-witted anyway. He had been with Melody before out of a sense of responsibility, but since she'd already said that she didn't need him to take responsibility, then he wouldn't.
In fact, breaking up with Melody didn't actually make him feel all that upset. At most, he was a little angry.
But that anger was mostly because of her unreasonable behavior.
Meanwhile, next to him, Krystal paused for a moment. Then, she turned to look at Jeremy with a mixture of surprise and hope.
She said, "It's not surprising that you broke up with her. You two are just not right for each other. She doesn't understand your thoughts, and it's exhausting to communicate with someone so out of touch."
