A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 226

Although Melody could simply tell Tiffany that Jeremy was busy with work, she couldn't help feeling disappointed and sad being alone all the time.

However, she forced herself to smile nonetheless.

After all, she had known from the start what she was getting into when she began dating Jeremy.

To Jeremy, his job always came first. Besides, Melody didn't even know how to bring it up to Jeremy. The comments online were filthy, and some even contained maliciously edited photos of her. She didn't want Jeremy to see those things.

However, Melody didn't expect Jeremy to return to the department that afternoon.

Just as she was getting off work, Jeremy appeared by the nurses' station, clearly waiting for her. "Go change your clothes," he said.

Melody paused in confusion.

Then, Jeremy added, "Matthew's back."

Melody's eyes immediately lit up.

Matthew was the person Jeremy had contacted on the island to handle Echo's travel arrangements. His return meant Echo was finally here.

The gloom that had weighed on her heart for days cleared instantly upon hearing that Echo had arrived.

After changing clothes, she looked up at Jeremy with eyes sparkling with joy. "I thought we'd have to wait a bit longer. I didn't expect Echo to be here so soon."

Jeremy nodded. "He got back once the paperwork was finalized."

"But why didn't Matthew ever mention anything to me?" Melody curiously asked.

Only after Melody entered the apartment did she notice that the entrance was filled with an assortment of dog supplies—a dog bed, bags of dog food, a puppy litter tray, a few small outfits. and even some chew toys. There was even puppy shampoo and a small grooming dryer.

Melody hadn't been home for the last few days, so it was obvious who had arranged for all of this.

As she was happily looking around, Jeremy came in. As he glanced down at the items scattered across the floor, he coolly said, "Organize these things properly. It'll stay in the storage room.

"Housekeeping will come by every day. I don't want to see dog hair and mess all over the apartment, nor do I want to smell anything unpleasant."

Upon seeing his serious expression, Melody couldn't hold back her smile. Jeremy had clearly taken care of everything, yet he refused to admit that he had been this thoughtful.

After a pause, Melody gently lifted Echo from the cage and held the puppy in front of her face. She cheerfully said, "Echo, come say hello to Jeremy. You should thank him for preparing such a nice home for you."
