A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 219

Meanwhile, Jeremy really seemed to be extremely busy. Melody didn't see him for the entire day.

When she went to the doctors' office, he was in the wards. When she checked the wards, he had already rushed to the emergency department.

It wasn't until late afternoon that Melody finally ran into him. It was already past the end of their shifts, yet Jeremy was still wearing his white coat, visibly in a hurry.

She quickly called out to him, "You're not off yet?"

Jeremy glanced at her, his voice flat and detached as he said, "I'm not going home tonight. I need to analyze a patient's condition again."

Melody hesitated, wanting to speak with him just a little longer, but Jeremy was already checking his phone. He lifted his eyes briefly and expressionlessly asked, "Anything else? If not, I'm heading back to the office."

He didn't even wait for Melody's reply before turning away. Melody opened her mouth but could only whisper, "No..."

Before she could finish the sentence, Jeremy had already walked away.

She wanted to ask if he was tired, but the words stayed unspoken.

Ever since returning from the island, Jeremy had been constantly occupied at the hospital and rarely came home.

As Melody watched his hurried figure disappear, she softly reassured herself again and again.

This was Jeremy's job. For him, his patients always came first. As his girlfriend, she should support him, not cause him trouble.

Andrew continued his questioning while Melody stayed standing. She sensed that he had something more serious to say.

Sure enough, after a few polite inquiries, Andrew's tone shifted to one of feigned helplessness. "Have you heard about Denvin's recent decision to renovate Green Moon Orphanage? Did you say something to encourage him?"

Melody's eyelashes trembled slightly. She quietly answered, "No, I didn't know about it. They didn't tell me until the project started."

Andrew closely watched her. Though he was in his 50s, his sharp eyes remained shrewd as he carefully appraised Melody. "But Denvin wouldn't get involved without you being the reason for it.

"Mel, sometimes I don't like reminding you of your position in our family. You're adopted. I never expected you to bring any benefits, nor have I ever asked for your gratitude. But you shouldn't have persuaded Denvin into doing something like this."

Andrew's eyes narrowed as he coldly said, "Don't you feel sorry for me or for Cheryl when you do things like this?"
