A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 215

The evening breeze on the island was still hot and dry.

Melody walked quietly beside Jeremy, cautious and afraid to say a single word.

Jeremy's face was dark and unpleasant. He remained silent the entire way back to their hotel room and walked straight into the bathroom without saying a word.

Clearly, he didn't want to talk to anyone at the moment.

Melody didn't dare provoke him. She sat quietly in the living room, scrolling through her phone.

She then opened her group chat and sent them a picture of the small puppy.

Tiffany was the first to respond. "Whose puppy is this? It's adorable!"

Melody's lips curled into a proud little smile as she typed her reply, "Mine."

In truth, Melody had been genuinely surprised when Jeremy suggested adopting the puppy. After all, he was a clean freak and never particularly liked animals.

Melody hadn't planned on getting the puppy either. She was living in Jeremy's house, so it wasn't really possible for her to take care of a pet.

Unexpectedly, it was Jeremy who'd brought it up. Even though he'd seemed annoyed the entire time—especially when the puppy rubbed against his leg—he'd handled the adoption paperwork seriously.

Tiffany asked, "Did you name it yet?"

"Yes." Melody carefully typed, "Echo." When the owner asked her to name the puppy, this name immediately popped into her head.

Tiffany didn't try guessing what the name meant. Instead, she started updating Melody about recent gossip at the hospital.

"Krystal finished shooting that promotional video. Yesterday, Andrew and Laura even showed up at the hospital.

"I overheard them saying that Regallo Charity Foundation didn't just pay for the video, they're financing the whole follow-up campaign too."

Tiffany sent an annoyed emoji. "They're using their dirty money just to promote their precious daughter's saintly image. It's unbelievable!"

Ever since Tiffany learned about Regallo Charity Foundation's scandals, she'd had nothing nice to say about the Wardolfs or Krystal.

But Melody didn't engage much in that conversation. She'd finally gotten away from the Wardolfs for a while, and she didn't want to spoil her mood by thinking about them again.

Ever since Cheryl's death, she'd rarely experienced such sincere compliments. She took her time and replied to each comment individually.

"What's got you smiling like that?" s deep, quiet voice suddenly spoke above her head. After that, Melody caught the fresh scent of mint and steam.

Melody raised her head, caught completely off guard by Jeremy's gaze.

He'd clearly just finished showering, and the tension in his face seemed to have eased. His damp hair fell messily across his forehead, giving a youthful charm to his usual emotionless look.

Even from this angle, his face was undeniably attractive.

Melody's breath hitched, and her eyes unintentionally wandered downward.

Jeremy was wearing only a loose white towel around his waist. Its edge was curled slightly and revealed a faint trace of toned abs beneath.

Jeremy lowered his head slightly to look at Melody, and even the warmth of the steam from his body seemed to reach her.

Melody snapped back to her senses. She immediately closed her eyes and blurted out in a panic, "N-nothing. I need to step out for a bit."
