A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 178

Melody was reeling with awkwardness from Rosemary's comments, but she didn't know how to explain things to her either. So, she could only urge Felicia to start driving.

Felicia was bent over in laughter. "Honestly, I think Rosie's right. Nothing good ever comes from taking pity on a man. What else is Jeremy good for other than being good-looking?"

Both she and Jason had never been too fond of Jeremy. Jeremy was distant and aloof, just like a robot. It was genuinely exhausting just being around him. Moreover, Melody had already suffered quite a lot of grievances because of him.

As her friends, Felicia and Jason felt sorry for her. But Melody remained a fool in love, stubbornly pushing forward.

Rosemary glanced at Felicia and flatly said, "Aren't you also blinded by love? I know you like my father—"

Felicia suddenly erupted into a round of violent coughing, interrupting Rosemary.

Both Felicia and Melody turned to look at Rosemary in horror.

"I told you. I may be a minor, but that doesn't mean I don't have a brain," Rosemary sassily said.

Felicia was immediately flustered, and she drew deep breaths trying to calm herself.

Rosemary continued, "My mom died many years ago, and my dad is an excellent person. It's normal for you to like him.

"Good luck! I'm waiting for you to become my stepmom."

Neither Felicia nor Melody dared to utter another word for the rest of the ride to the movie theatre, lest Rosemary dropped more alarming statements.

But thanks to Rosemary's unexpected comments, Melody wasn't feeling as blue as before.

She looked at her phone again.

She had messaged Jeremy right after she had agreed to join Felicia for the movie. However, there still weren't any messages from him even though he had clearly agreed to reply to her messages.

"What are you staring at? Come on. Let's go," Felicia said, urging Melody out of the car.

Finally, Melody turned her screen off.

It was a call from Jeremy.

Melody's heart skipped a beat. When she answered, she heard his clear, low voice say, "You're not done with your movie yet? I'm waiting for you outside the mall downstairs. How much longer do you need?"

Melody was stunned for a moment before asking, "Why are you here?" She had assumed that he would go straight home after sending Krystal back.

"Didn't you send me your location? I thought that meant you wanted me to come pick you up," Jeremy flatly answered.

He was currently in the car waiting outside. He had actually seen the message when Melody had first sent it to him, but because he had been driving then, he didn't think it was necessary to respond.

To him, messages like these that let him know where she was didn't require a reply. After all, he had no interest in knowing where she and her friends went or what they did.

However, when he was on his way home after dropping Krystal off, the "boyfriend guidelines" popped into his head once again.

Jeremy approached his relationship with Melody like a research paper, and he was someone who always approached his papers with seriousness and rigor while also striving to achieve the best results.
