Jeremy didn't have many demands when it came to where he lived. This apartment that he had bought had been a fully-furnished, ready-to-move-in one.
If Melody felt that redecorating the place could give her some emotional satisfaction, then he wouldn't object to it. He merely reminded her not to touch his stuff in the study, as the documents inside were very important.
Once Melody received Jeremy's permission, she immediately placed quite a few orders online.
She added plants next to the floor-to-ceiling windows and a beautiful vase to the dining table. There were also new covers for the couch, new mats for the coffee table, and even the air-conditioning remote received a new protective cover.
By the time Jeremy finished his work and stepped out of the study, the whole living room had changed from the initial cool-toned aesthetic to a soft, creamy one.
He instinctively furrowed his brows, but he didn't say anything. He was the one who allowed her to redecorate the place, after all.
When Melody noticed his gaze, she immediately looked at him with sparkling eyes. "Can you help me?" she asked.
"Yes?"
Melody held up a string of small wind chimes and said, "Can I hang this outside your study? That way, if you're working and I need you, I can just shake these wind chimes. And if it's okay to go in, you'll tell me so, but if I'm bothering you, then you can just stay silent. Okay?"
Jeremy couldn't quite understand the reasoning behind Melody's actions, but when he saw the anticipation in her eyes, he couldn't say no to her either. He only asked, "Why wind chimes?"
"Because wind chimes make a really nice sound."
Melody's hearing impairment had once left her world silent. Thus, she was fond of the crisp, tinkling sounds made by wind chimes.
Orphy clearly sounded nervous. "Melody, are you still busy with work lately?"
"What's wrong?" Melody asked in a gentle tone.
"Can you come join the Children's Day activities at the orphanage in June? Everyone misses you a lot," Orphy said.
Melody then heard the other children in the background asking Orphy whether she had agreed to visit.
Melody's lips curled up into a smile. She was just about to answer when one of the kids suddenly blurted out, "Remember to ask Melody to bring her boyfriend around too! Mr. Doctor's so good-looking!"
