A Pack of Their Own (Keska) novel Chapter 131

ALPHA CRAIG: I call a quick Pack meeting of everyone that I brought here, and their new mates. “I am going to make this quick, as I know some of you have probably joined the darts tournament, I also know that some of you know that we have been dealing with a possible conflict. It’s not a possible, it’s a definite, my question to you all is do you want to stay for the dance tomorrow or leave after lunch today?” I put the question to them. There were a few questions, but most wanted to stay for the dance and leave the morning after. So, I made sure that everyone from my Pack was on the same page as far as that was concerned. I sent a text to Alpha Drake. (I have spoken to my Pack members, and members to be, they wish to stay for the dance tomorrow, and we will leave Thursday after breakfast.) (Understood.) He sent back.

DRAKE: I got through the meetings rather quickly, considering that we had some of the answers from the different documents that were sent from the different Pack’s resources. I also reiterated to them to reach out to the smaller packs in their area to make sure that they were aware of what was happening and what to expect. Some of them also offered up a couple of volunteers to be marked so that their packs could stay in the loop with us, as it were, which is also a big help, that way we are only asking for volunteers from just a few others. I also tell Frank to let Burning Ember Pack in on what we found so they could be on the same page as well. We all break for lunch.

JAMES: I am looking around the marquee for Jessie, but I don’t see her, so I link her. *“Hey just wondering where you’re at?” “In the game room watching the matches. Why?” “Because when we shift tonight, I am going in the direction of the lake, not north.” “Don’t want anyone getting to close to your love shack big brother?” “No! I don’t, including you, so the lake got it?” “Yes big brother got it.”* I close the link. And go in search of my mate. “Here you are.” I find her towards the back watching the dart tournament. “Yep, here I am, did you need something love?” “I was just curious if you were going to join the run tonight?” “I can, if you want me to.” “I would love to have you join us; we will be headed in the direction of the lake.” I tell her. “Jessie has already given me shit about not wanting anyone close to our “love shack” I use air quotes around Love Shack. Janica just laughs.

JESSIE: After the dart tournament was over I go make an announcement of my own. Walking out to the marquee and over to the mic. “The pool is open for anyone who wants to go swimming.” I say and then go to my room to grab my suit and change in my room and then head back down to the pool. Several others are already there enjoying the warm water from the sun beating down on it. When I get there, I make the suggestion of having a water volleyball game. Most were open to it, and we got the teams picked. I watched as Dutch Trever and Mackie were all together. If Kes was Trever’s mate he wasn’t showing any signs of it. But Dutch on the other hand couldn’t seem to leave Mackie alone, so that explains a lot, if Dutch is Mackie’s, then with both pairs being best friends, they would all hang out together.
