A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6778

The gray point crossed the night sky above the Void Sea like a meteor, trailing a narrow tail beneath the moon as it sped toward the ocean's depths.

The sea wind howled around them and hurled salty mist against their faces. Chaotic force surrounded the four men like an invisible membrane, shielding them from the cold and damp.

Kael leaned against Jared. As Azurewave Island receded beneath them, his nerves finally began to loosen after days of tension.

He looked back once. The island had shrunk to a tiny black dot, a mote of dust on the sea that was nearly invisible beneath the moonlight.

"We truly escaped," Kael said hoarsely, exhausted but relieved.

"Damian didn't follow us."

"He thinks you're still on the island," Jared replied.

"Every restriction he laid was in the sea. He never imagined you would leave through the sky."

Neris and Riven followed behind them. Their faces remained pale but looked far better than before.

Riven watched the approaching deep waters with urgency. "How much farther is Deepblue City?"

Kael answered, "About two hours at this speed.

"Once we cross the reefs ahead, we descend roughly 3,300 feet. The city will be there."

Jared asked no further questions. He adjusted the flow of chaotic force and accelerated in the direction Kael indicated.

The sea below darkened from pale blue to navy and finally to a shade of midnight blue approaching black.

Moonlight penetrated the surface only to be absorbed, refracted, and weakened by layer after layer of water until barely a halo remained.

About two hours later, Kael pointed to a stretch of water indistinguishable from the rest. "We've arrived. It's directly below us."

Jared nodded. Gray chaotic force condensed around the group as all four entered the sea.

Warm and powerful pressure enclosed him from every direction the moment he crossed the surface.

The concentration of spiritual energy in the water far surpassed that on land. Like living currents, it passed through his meridians with a gentle, nourishing warmth.

Color returned to the faces of Kael, Neris, and Riven almost immediately.

The suffocating pressure of the celestial realm's laws vanished. The sea embraced them like a mother's hands and restored vitality to their meridians and cores.

They descended roughly 3,300 feet until all light disappeared.

Riven raised one hand and pointed. Soft blue-green radiance suddenly appeared ahead.

A huge underwater city entered Jared's view.

He had reached Deepblue City.

White coral stone and blue crystal glass formed its buildings, which rose in tiers along the gentle slopes of an underwater mountain range like a gigantic pearl embedded in the deep.

Glowing seaweed and spiritual plants lined its streets. Their soft blue-green light placed the whole city inside a dreamlike halo.

Water Clan cultivators traveled through the streets. Some rode domesticated sea beasts, others gathered spirit materials among the reefs, and still others sparred with water techniques in the plazas. Everything appeared peaceful and orderly.
