A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6671

Outside Soul Burial Valley, Jared and the others returned to Shadowfell City with Caiden Morgrave.

The demonic cultivators behind them were in high spirits.

They had wiped out a group of celestial elites and taken a heavy haul of spoils. Many of them could not hide the smiles on their faces.

Jared walked at the front.

His wounds had already been treated. He still looked battered, but his condition was steady.

Caiden moved beside him.

"Sir, why not stay in Shadowfell City for a few more days? Once your injuries are fully healed, you can continue your journey."

Jared shook his head.

"No need. They are only surface wounds. I want to leave for Inferno Devil Ridge tomorrow."

Caiden frowned slightly.

"Sir, Inferno Devil Ridge is not like Shadowfell City. The Hadad Descent is an ancient demonic legacy, but Senior Hadad has been missing for too long. His lineage no longer holds the same weight in the Nineteenth Firmament. The Inferno Devil Descent is different. Inferno Devil Ridge is their own territory. They have built their roots there for tens of thousands of years. Their influence is deep, their experts are numerous, and they are extremely closed off. Outsiders are not welcome there. If you rush in like this, I worry..."

"I understand."

Jared's tone stayed calm. "But I cannot wait."

Seeing the resolve in his eyes, Caiden stopped trying to persuade him.

"Then once you reach Inferno Devil Ridge, be careful. If something happens, send word to me. I do know a few people around that area. They may not be able to help much, but they can at least pass along information."

Jared nodded.

"Thank you, Lord Morgrave."

The next morning, Jared took Gwendolyn, Master Veridian, and the young acolyte to say goodbye to Caiden.

They left Shadowfell City.

Caiden escorted them all the way to the gate and watched them vanish at the edge of the horizon before turning back.

Inferno Devil Ridge was about three thousand miles away from Shadowfell City.

The farther Jared's group traveled, the harsher the land became.

Black rock spread across the ground.

Dark-red soil appeared more and more often.

Strange demonic plants grew from cracks in the stone now and then. Some were blood-red, some deep purple, and some dark green. Each gave off an eerie aura.

Master Veridian walked at the rear, glancing around as he muttered.

"This place really is evil-looking. Even the trees look like ghosts."

Jared smiled.

"Are you scared, Senior?"

"Scared?"

Master Veridian immediately puffed out his chest. "What kind of place have I not seen? This little bit is nothing. But Mr. Chance, are you truly sure your wife Josephine is at Inferno Devil Ridge?"

"No."

Jared's voice was steady. "But the clues lead there. I have to check."

Master Veridian nodded.

"Fair enough. What if she really is there?"

The three adults and one child traveled for three days.

At dusk on the third day, a vast mountain range finally appeared ahead.

Inferno Devil Ridge.

The mountains stretched for thousands of miles. Peak after peak rose into the clouds. The slopes were dark red, as if they had been burned by earthfire for countless years.

Cracks split the mountainsides.

Heat waves and black smoke poured out from those cracks, filling the air with the heavy smell of sulfur.

At the foot of the mountains stood a huge stone gate.

Two rows of black-armored demonic cultivators guarded both sides, each one cold-faced and alert.

Jared walked to the gate and cupped his hands.

"I am Jared Chance. I have business with your lineage and would like to meet the person in charge."

The lead guard was a large demonic cultivator at Golden Immortal Level Six.

He looked Jared up and down, eyes sharp with vigilance.

"A human cultivator? What business do you have at Inferno Devil Ridge?"

Before Jared could answer, Gwendolyn stepped forward.

"We are looking for someone. Her name is Josephine."

The guard's expression changed for an instant.

Then it turned indifferent again.
