A Life Beyond Limits (Jack Holland) novel Chapter 866

"Oh…"

"As It Was Before"'s mood instantly sank. It was true. What Jack meant was only in the game, not in real life.

She should have understood that by now. She shouldn't have harbored even the slightest fantasy. In real life, he was with Feena. How could he possibly care about anyone else?

"As It Was Before" should have been wishing for him and Feena to grow old together. After all, Jack already belonged to her in the game, and she couldn't expect too much.

But why, despite her usually indifferent nature, did she feel pain and jealousy? Was she truly unsettled by her feelings for him?

Ever since "As It Was Before" started playing the game with him, she found herself wanting to be with him every moment. Her thoughts were always centered around him, and even her daily life—studies, routines—had been cast aside.

Was she truly bound by her feelings for him? Even if that was the case, she was willing to fall deeper into it.

No one would have believed it—not even "As It Was Before" herself—that the character Jack played, "Whistle Echo", who was once considered a weakling with lousy gear, would one day lead a bloody massacre against the Kings of the Infernal guild right in Phoenix City. And yet, this shocking tragedy did happen.

As the game's developer, Jack knew "Legend of the East" inside and out. He was familiar with the hidden flaws in the game and so-called backdoors that players couldn't reach.

Furthermore, Jack had full control over the game's source code and all backend permissions. He was the strongest player in the game, the creator-god of "Legend of the East".

Jack only shared his revenge plan with "As It Was Before".

He knew that if "As It Was Before" joined the battle, she would give it her all. But no matter the outcome, her equipment could be completely wiped out. More importantly, her name would become known throughout the game, and her disruptive actions would make it hard for her to continue playing.

How could Jack continue enjoying the game with her if that happened?

Reluctantly, "As It Was Before" had agreed to his decision, though she didn't even have the courage to watch from the sidelines. She had always trusted Jack's abilities, but this time, she couldn't imagine how he could possibly challenge the Kings of the Infernal guild with nothing but ordinary gear.

"As It Was Before" was afraid that Jack would become the laughingstock of the entire gaming world because of her. It was not worth it.

That night, although "As It Was Before" knew Jack was online, she didn't have the courage to message him. She was afraid she would distract him, even though it was a hopeless battle.
