Bethany sounded anxious, and she ended the call hastily.
Bella found an excuse and said, "I'm sorry, Hugo. I really can't accept this. I have an appointment to attend to and need to head to the conference hall. I'm sorry!"
As she spoke, Bella also ditched her event and hastily headed to the conference hall on campus.
She was dying to know what had happened, so she couldn't be bothered with suffering a scolding from her mother anymore.
Hugo's expression twisted. "Bella, are you really not going to say yes? Why can't you give me the slightest chance?" But the only response Hugo received was the sound of Bella's footsteps, growing faster as she walked away.
He watched as Bella disappeared from his sight. Then, Hugo finally furiously threw his bouquet on the ground, scowling at Bella's silhouette, "Don't get cocky, bitch. I'll make sure you regret this."
A blonde-haired lackey asked meekly, "Hugo, what should we do now?"
A cruel glint flickered in Hugo's eyes. He said hoarsely, "Hold her off at the conference hall and cause trouble. I want to see how capable this boyfriend of hers is."
"Great!" The group of lackeys cheered—nothing made their day like trampling a few idiots who didn't know better.
Bella hurried toward the conference hall, surrounded by students rushing to the same place.
Merely a talk from a business tycoon or a popular figure would have been enough to capture the attention of many, but with the central figure from that recent confession drama involved, gossip-hungry students swarmed the conference hall.
