Clarice had forcefully broken off Bella's relationship with Jack a year ago so she could focus on her studies. She had then gotten rid of all methods of communication between Jack and Bella, which included her phone, WhatsApp, Instagram and more. She had even disallowed Bella from contacting other students from Alnewgo University.

Bella had only been allowed to leave her last letter to Jack after begging Clarice profusely. It had been Clarice's final act of mercy to her.

She had penned that letter on a fine spring day. Although the trees outside her window had been sprouting new buds when she was writing the letter, Bella had felt like her heart was wilting with each word she wrote.

She wondered if she would be able to send the letter to Jack, and she also wondered if she would see him again after moving to the capitol. But how long would it take for them to meet again? Perhaps a year, five years, or maybe 10 years?

When they ran into each other again, would they still recognize each other? Would they still be able to hold each other's hands?

Bella held a pessimistic outlook since she knew that the passing of time was love's biggest enemy, easily chipping away at the feelings that once existed until nothing was left. She even entertained the idea that they would simply never cross paths again. Even if they did bump into each other again, it would be when they were old and frail.

Whenever she thought about these things, Bella felt as if her heart was being stabbed by knives. The only reason she had worked so hard to become an excellent individual was so that Jack wouldn't forget her when she ran into him again one day in the future. Even if he did forget her, her spectacular achievements would make him fall in love with her once more.

Bella shared the same fears as Jack—she worried that their feelings for each other would fade away with the passing of time. After all, she cared about Jack, much more than he cared about her.

She had spent countless days and nights fantasizing about their reunion. Perhaps she would bump into Jack in a luxurious hotel while snow fell outside the window. Or maybe she would run into him again when he had made a name for himself, becoming a figure that commanded the attention of the world.

Maybe she would be standing below the stage then, staring up at him. Or maybe he might have fallen into a life of poverty. She would pass him while driving as he begged on the streets.

Bella had fantasized about many different scenarios, but she never imagined that Jack, the man who haunted her in both her dreams and her waking hours, would appear here, when she was being confessed to by another man with a grand display of fireworks while surrounded by a sea of flowers.

He didn't make a flashy appearance from the sky, nor did he arrive in a fancy car. He was dressed in the clothes that he always wore, and he was wearing the same smile that usually curled his lips. He had also appeared in a manner that was typical of him.
