Elias had predicted from the very beginning that the Goulds would withhold their aid. After all, in the eyes of everyone else, the Carpenters' partnership with Jack had bleak prospects.
However, the Goulds' betrayal was still unexpected, despite their decision being reasonable. Jack and Elias were undoubtedly digging their own graves by opposing Patrick. As the leader of the new generation of the Gould family, Jett would never put his family's future on the line.
Elias may harbor delusions in his heart, but Jett was a realist. He had no other choice but to make the decision he had made in order to secure his family's future and benefits. In order to join Patrick's camp, Gould Group had even publicized the confidential documents they had on hand.
Elias' panic was growing, but Jack maintained a confident demeanor.
The gala was about to begin. Valery, who was hidden in a corner, was getting nervous and expressed her desire to drop by the restroom. Jack nodded in agreement as he quietly waited for the gala to begin. However, Valery did not return even though ten minutes had passed.
A man rushed over and waved at Jack to catch his attention. "Your girlfriend was taken away. Follow me. They're just around the corner."
The man rushed away after he was done speaking. Jack scoffed as he watched the man until he disappeared from his line of sight. If he guessed correctly, a trap must have been set up at the corner the man mentioned. However, Jack didn't back down and followed after the man.
After traversing through a secluded and pitch-black corridor, a light appeared before Jack. A group of muscular men were blocking the exit of the corridor. Beyond them came the sounds of a woman's screaming and scolding.
Jack didn't waste any time speaking. He dashed forward like a flash of lightning and struck the men with precise blows, easily subduing them. The men's cries attracted the attention of those who were within.
