Chapter 891

Third Person’s POV

Finished

Paisley sat next to Sidney, purposefully angling her body away to avoid making eye contact with Germain.

Germain, completely unfazed by her avoidance, leaned closer and started a conversation with her.

“My route back to Hudson City takes me right past your parents’ place, Paisley. If you’re up for it, you’re more than welcome to travel back with me. You’ve been in New York for so long-it’s a great chance to go home and visit them.”

Paisley gave him a frigid, sideways glare, her words clipping through gritted teeth. “Thanks for the generous offer, but I don’t have any travel plans right now.”

Germain didn’t miss a beat, letting out a low, amused chuckle.

“Fair enough. But what about a greeting card or a small gift? I’d be happy to drop it off for your father- though I suppose I’d need to know what he likes…”

That hit a soft spot. Paisley had spent the last few years bouncing around out of town on her own whims, rarely coming back, and she knew it had been far too long since she last saw her father.

That stubborn, proud old man probably missed her terribly.

No cold refusal this time, she looked up at Germain. “I want to write my dad a card.

“Give me a minute. I’ll run upstairs and prepare

it.”

Germain waved a hand with a practiced smile. “Oh,/no need to rush. Just finish it tomorrow and have someone drop it off at my pack before we roll out/We aren’t leaving for a few days yet-besides, I’m sure you have plenty of catching up to do with Sidney right now.”

Adelaide tracked Germain’s every micro-expression, a sneer curling the edge of her lip.

This disgusting, lecherous male. Did he really still have designs on Paisley?

Paisley wasn’t an idiot, of course. She caught the thinly veiled manipulation behind Germain’s words. Her eyes flickered as a thought crossed her mind, and instead of getting angry, she smiled at Germain sweetly

“Sounds like a plan.”

Adelaide frowned.

A second later, her voice exploded inside Paisley’s head over their mind link. “Paisley! Have you lost your mind?!”

Paisley completely ignored her.

Lance, too, watched the way Germain’s gaze practically plastered itself to Paisley’s skin, a nauseating wave of revulsion rising in the back of his throat.

He couldn’t wrap his head around how deeply twisted and desperate this bastard was. Germain actually thought he could claim Paisley as his mistress, using her as leverage to force her parents into falling in line behind his faction.

As an alpha himself, Lance knew exactly what kind of filth was swimming behind Germain’s calculating eyes. Politics and leverage were only half of it, the man looked at Paisley with raw, possessive male hunger.

Son of a bitch!” Lance cursed inside.

To shield Paisley, Lance waited out the polite window of the meeting before abruptly inventing an urgent pack crisis, smoothly ushering Germain and Sidney toward the front exit.

Walking them out past the main pack gates, Lance tossed out an offhand, casual question.

“So, Alpha Germain, when do you officially head back to Hudson City?”

“Three days from now. Everything’s locked in—I already filed the transit manifest with Lycan Erasmus.”

Germain exhaled a long breath of relief the second the words left his mouth.

He had been afraid to leave New York all this time, worried that any wrong move would draw Erasmus’s suspicion.

He had debated requesting a transfer back home for weeks, worried Erasmus would smell a rat, deny the request, and slap him with round-the-clock surveillance.

To his shock, Erasmus hadn’t batted an eye, approving the departure without asking a single follow-up question.

Lance offered a warm, plastic smile. “Well, the Ministry of Justice has been busy lately, so I probably won’t be able to see you off in person. Have a smooth trip back.”

Germain chuckled, heavy-handedly clapping a hand onto Lance’s shoulder in a painfully fake display of

avuncular warmth.

“When you have free time, bring the family up to Hudson City for a proper holiday. The climate there is gorgeous-I guarantee you and Adelaide will fall in love with it.”

Lance nodded. “We’ll keep that in mind.”

The moment the obnoxious couple left, Adelaide grabbed Paisley by the collar and pulled her back to the bedroom.

“Alright, now snill” Adelaide hissed, crossing her arms tight over her chest as she stared at Paisley “What the he

“We’ve been hunting down leads on Germain’s elite high-tier welf warriors for months, and we’ve got zero to show for it. Even the seemingly ordinary omega servants in his pack possessed extraordinary combat skills. If you waltz in these alone, you’re going to put yourself in danger. I am not exaggerating.”
