She aggressively wiped her nose, her eyes scanning everyone in front of her.

“Look, i absolutely detest Sabrina, but I did not frame her for the poisoning. I’m the one who gave the order, period. And the only reason I pushed her into that frozen lake later was because he bit the hand that fed her: The bitch actually went and confessed, telling everyone I was the mastermind who poisoned Scarlett)”
Adelaide and Paisley traded a look of pure, speechless exhaustion. For a second, they didn’t even know what to say.
Paisley’s wolf let out a quiet sigh, torn between pitying how pathetic the woman was and being disgusted by her sheer stupidity. With that in mind, the question slipped out before she could stop it. “How much do you know about your mother’s business?”
“What about it?” Wanda’s chin snapped up.
Her pheromones retracted instantly, a defensive scent pouring from her glands.
“Don’t try pinning anything else on me. I don’t know a damn thing.”
Seeing her put her guard right back up, Paisley didn’t bother pressing her buttons. She shifted gears, asking about the status of the omegas back at the Glenveils.
Wanda relaxed a bit, claiming the omegas had always been totally loyal to her.
Adelaide picked up the questioning.
“Did it really never cross your mind that Sabrina might screw you over? If that soup was meant for Scarlett’s mother, how did it suddenly end up in Scarlett’s bowl instead?”
“She wouldn’t dare,” Wanda shot back instantly, barely thinking. “Once she moved into that pack, she had to rely on me just to survive. Why would she risk crossing me?”
“She might not have risked crossing you face–to–face,” Paisley interjected coldly, “but she sure was the very first one to throw you under the bus.”
Wanda choked on her words, pausing awkwardly.
“She was just terrified of getting caught, so she gave me up first… At the end of the day, she was just following my orders. She wasn’t the mastermind.”
“Wow, look at you being all sweet and understanding,” Paisley couldn’t help but mock.
Wanda definitely picked up on the sarcasm. She snapped her face away, refusing to look at her
To Adelaide, the logic of the situation still didn’t track.
“A miscarriage is a massive deal. Are you saying Luna Rowena and Winslow just dropped the ball and didn’t investigate further?”
Wanda let out a bitter laugh.

Chapter 646
Rowena was sick, and Eleanor was incredibly frail they were both basically on their deathbeds. When Winslow sent his beta t look into it, Sabrina blamed me, and i just went ahead and copped to it. Since i confessed, they obviously had no reason to keep digging. In their eyes, there was no limit to how twisted I could be anyway.”
Paisley let out a sharp breath.
“I seriously don’t know what to say to you. You look down on Sabrina on one hand, but then you trust her blindly on the other assuming she’d never betray you? The girl is nowhere near as submissive as you think.”
Paisley had already checked the boxes in her head: Sabrina was definitely the puppet master running this entire show She hated every single wolf with the Turner last name because of how garbage they had treated Adelaide in the past.
So, no matter how underhanded Sabrina’s tactics were, it wouldn’t shock her for a second.
But Adelaide wasn’t fully buying it. She felt like someone else had to be carefully plotting and layout–mapping this entire crisis from the dark.
She kept pressing.
“Winslow didn’t actually reject you right after Scarlett lost the pup. He only kicked you out after you shoved Sabrina into the lake and the loan shark business came to light. Correct?”
“Yeah,” Wanda said, her voice completely draining of energy.
“But they had been looking for an excuse to get rid of me for months. Laying all those charges on me at once just made the exile look more legitimate to the public.”
Paisley said coldly, “You don’t get to play the victim here. They never brought up the miscarriage as the official reason for your exile, otherwise you’d be sitting in a cell right now. Objectively speaking, Luna Rowena didn’t treat you half bad.”
Hearing those words, Wanda unexpectedly started crying all over again.
“When we first formed our bond, Rowena was actually really sweet to me,” she murmured to herself.
“I was just so arrogant and impossible back then, thinking the Spectrehowl Rack and my mother would back me up forever. İ looked down on everyone. Even when she was nice to me, I thought she was just trying to suck up to me. Then my mother went to prison, my father was executed… and I realized I had absolutely nothing left. I honestly thought they’d throw me out the second i
୮ became a commoner, but they kept sheltering me anyway.”
Adelaide suddenly changed the subject.
“What kind of person was Eleanor? You lived with her for years, you should have a good read on her character“,
Wanda thought back to her years of clashing with Eleanor. All the incidents that used to make her shake with pure rage felt different now; looking back objectively, she had just been going out of her way to be a nightmare to the wornan.
After a long silence, she spoke softly.
“Eleanor was a good person, and she ran pack operations well. If she hadn’t suffered that miscarriage last year, her health wouldn have deteriorated so badly. She probably would have lived a lot longer.”
“Hold on, she had a miscarriage last year?” Paisley asked.
