Chapter 650

From a Third-Person Perspective

Adelaide gave a slight nod. “Right now, the person you really need to keep an eye on is Ulrik. Gloria’s brother is Tad, and he’s one of Germain’s primary targets for recruitment. Plus, Wilorina has already headed to the Southern Border. I have a feeling she might already be in contact with Tad.”

“Got it, I’ll take care of it!” Paisley responded with determination.

She hesitated for a moment, concern flickering in her eyes. “But Ulrik might skip classes. He doesn’t have to take the assessment this year.”

“He’ll show up,” Adelaide said confidently.

Paisley looked unconvinced.

Adelaide smiled warmly. “He’s the Captain of the Lycan King’s Personal Wolf-Guard now. If he doesn’t keep sharpening his skills, he won’t hold that position for long. There’s no way he’ll miss this.”

Paisley grimaced slightly. “Just the thought of teaching him makes my stomach turn.”

Adelaide tried to soothe her worries. “You’re only responsible for the group classes. No one-on-one coaching with him, so you won’t be stuck alone with him for long. Trust me, the awkwardness won’t last.”

Paisley smirked playfully. “Alright, I’ll grit my teeth for the greater good. Later, I’ll have Galvin prescribe something to ease the discomfort.”

Taking Paisley’s hand gently, Adelaide said sincerely, “Thank you so much, Paisley.”

Paisley quickly pulled her hand away and gave the back of Adelaide’s head a light slap. “Cut the formalities. Why are you being so polite? It makes things weird between us.”

That evening, the Blackthorn Pack finally gathered for a rare full-attendance dinner. The room was filled with the warm glow of candlelight and the rich aroma of home-cooked food. Laughter and quiet chatter mingled in the air, softening the tension that had hung over them in recent days.

Adelaide noticed Craig hadn’t yet returned to Shadow Peaks. Surprised, she asked, “Why are you still here? I thought you’d already left, or maybe snuck away without telling anyone!”

Before she could finish, Craig gave her a playful tap on the back of her head.

“You ungrateful brat!” he grumbled. “I called you several times these past few days, and you ignored me completely! I thought I’d upset you, but it turns out you just never noticed I was around!”

Lance winced and gently rubbed the back of Adelaide’s head. “She’s been overwhelmed lately. Sometimes she just zones out when she’s deep in thought. You can remind her with a word or two, but please don’t keep hitting her. You might hurt her.”

His voice carried a respectful tone toward Craig, yet there was a clear protective edge, like a parent watching over someone dear.

After all, Adelaide was the one he cared about most.
