“He’s not back yet. I want to stop her before she leaves the palace and get the facts so we can prepare.”
“I don’t believe Stanley has a secret lover,” Camilla said icily.
Heath had initially believed Lance, but after thinking it through, he was starting to have doubts.
After all, Lance hadn’t found this out himself. It was information from the Capital Guard’s investigation.
Adelaide was inexperienced in these matters and probably just believed some gossip.
The Styxwarden Pack had been doing well for years and was very influential, which naturally led to a lot of jealousy.
Rumors were always flying around. Maybe someone had made this up on purpose to slander them.
“Either way,” Heath said, “we have to find out where Adelaide got this information. Otherwise, our mother will be heartbroken, and our father’s reputation will be ruined.”
Camilla had always been hostile towards Adelaide.
She remembered when Lycan Erasmus wanted Adelaide to be his New Moon Priestess.
She knew later that it was just a political move, but the intense look in his eyes when he looked at Adelaide had made her uneasy.
A she–wolf’s intuition told her that the way Lycan Erasmus valued and admired Adelaide was different from how he saw others.
Even though Adelaide was Lance’s Luna now, Lycan Erasmus would still glance at her during royal dinners, his eyes holding a complex mix of emotions.
Adelaide had been in Lycan Erasmus’s study for almost an hour.
He had let her sit down, but she was still on edge.
Lycan Erasmus was asking her about Prima.

She hadn’t had a chance to report on it, but he already knew. It was clear he had people secretly monitoring the Capital Guard’s investigation.
When Adelaide first entered his study, Lycan Erasmus said to her meaningfully, “Women tend to favor other women. There’s nothing wrong with helping women, but you must base it on facts. You can’t be partial.”
Adelaide explained again that the she–wolves had been through a lot with Madison and were just pawns.
She hoped they could be handled with some leniency since most of them hadn’t actually carried out Madison’s orders.
Even if they weren’t punished, most of them would be kicked out of their packs.
The Capital Guard would find a place for them and keep an eye on them until the treason case was closed.
As for the ones who weren’t exiled, their packs would be ordered to keep a close watch on them.
Lycan Erasmus thought it over and accepted Adelaide’s proposal.
But he believed that Prima’s case still needed a full investigation.
He called in the Minister of Defense and Gamma Valens. He also had them bring the weapons confiscated from Madison’s manor to compare them with the ones in the Ministry of Defense’s warehouse.
After a thorough comparison, they found the weapons from Madison’s manor were actually better and more refined than the ones made by the Ministry of Defense.
The armor for werewolf warriors, especially, was much more advanced.
They even tested it in the royal study. A tester chopped at the armor a few times, but the armor didn’t break. The knife used to hit it cracked instead.
The test results for the ballista came in later.
Its performance wasn’t as good as the Ministry of Defense’s.
This news calmed Lycan Erasmus down a bit.
At least it proved one thing–Prima hadn’t lied. She hadn’t stolen the ballista blueprints, because the ballista and armor from Madison were completely different from the Ministry of
