Slowly, Arya closed her eyes, and tears slid down her cheeks. She sobbed softly, "I'm afraid... afraid that she'll leave me like that... Can you understand how I feel?"
Xavier turned around and reached out to wipe the tears off her face. Arya's eyes were so blurry that she could not see his face. "Do you know how scared I was?"
She couldn't help but cry in front of Xavier without scruple for the first time.
"I know."
He knew where her fear came from. Only when people had truly experienced it would they be so afraid. The more people understood, the more uncomfortable they would feel. Xavier hugged her tightly.
At this moment, the door of the room was pushed open. It was Edward who came to see the baby behind Bridget.
Bridget didn't expect Xavier to be here, so she was awkward. She didn't know whether to talk or close the door.
Xavier was calm and didn't feel embarrassed. He slowly let go of Arya and stared at Bridget calmly. "Why don't you knock on the door?"
"I didn't know you were there." Xavier came back quite late these days but early today.
Arya did not turn around and lowered her head to wipe away the tears on her face.
Edward couldn't wait any longer. He looked in and wanted to see the baby.
Bridget glared at him. Why was he so inconsiderate?
"Why are you pushing in?"
"I want to see the baby." Edward looked at Bridget carefully. "Are you angry?"
"No." Bridget turned around and left Edward alone.
Edward stood at the door, not knowing what he had done wrong.
Xavier pressed his forehead and said, "Edward, come in."
Edward was in high spirits, but now he was at a loss because Bridget was angry suddenly. However, when he saw the baby in the crib, he felt a little better.
He bent over and looked at her carefully. "She's really small..."
Xavier reached out and pinned the hair on Arya's face behind her ear. "I'm going out to find Bridget."
Arya had already collected herself and said, "Go ahead."
Bridget sat on the sofa outside, looking unhappy.
Xavier called her, "Come out with me."
Just as Bridget was about to ask why, Xavier had already opened the door, and Bridget had to follow.
Xavier walked to the end of the corridor and stood in front of the ventilated window. He put his hand into his pocket and wanted to smoke, but when he saw the non-smoking sign on the wall, he put the cigarette back.
"Brother..."
No matter what he did, he couldn't make Bridget happy.
"She said that she didn't like doctors, so I change myself and give up the medicine I loved the most, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't move her and let her accept me." Edward looked gloomy and smiled bitterly. "I want to give up."
He had been chasing Bridget for too long, but she had never been touched.
He was tired and didn't want to continue.
Arya didn't persuade him. She could help him with anything else, but couldn't get involved in his emotional matters. "Just think it over."
"I did." Edward looked up at Arya. "I'm ready to go back to my parents. I should do my duty as a son."
Ever since he pursued Bridget, he rarely went back home.
Arya didn't know what to say to him. He was right. He held on for so long. Even if Bridget was married and pregnant in the past, he didn't mind. It was obvious that he loved Bridget very much.
Now that he decided to leave, he must have reached his limit.
Arya didn't know how to comfort him. She just said, "Let me know when you leave. I'll send you off."
Edward quickly waved his hand. "You're still feeble. It's not appropriate to go outside." As he spoke, he seemed to have thought of something. He took out a bottle of medicine from his pocket and handed it to Arya.
Arya looked at him in confusion. "What is this?"
