Suddenly, Xavier did not dare to move forward.
He shouldn't have allowed her to go to the wedding alone. He was going to Jasper's wedding with her today, but Arya refused to let him go.
Arya knew that Xavier was overbearing, and Jasper was a thorn in his flesh. He would only be unhappy if he went, so she refused his accompany.
She didn't expect Harriet to be so crazy.
At this moment, the surgery was over. Arya took a few steps forward, eager to know how Jasper was.
The attending doctor came out first. Before he could say anything, Arya grabbed him, "Jasper... How is he?"
The doctor sighed slightly and looked solemn, "We've tried our best."
Arya didn't want to believe it and kept backing away.
'How could it be?'
'Impossible...'
Arya rushed in like a maniac. She didn't believe what the doctor said.
"Please calm down. We've really tried our best. All of his wounds were gunshot wounds, one in his internal organs..."
Xavier hugged her from behind. Arya cried, shouted, and struggled. "Let go of me! Let go of me. Let me see him. I don't believe he's dead!"
Xavier could not comfort her with words, so he could only hug her tightly.
The doctor sighed helplessly and turned to walk in.
Arya stared at the door that was closed again and sobbed softly. She only quietly shed tears but didn't cry loudly, which made others heartbroken.
"Let me go." Her voice was very soft.
Xavier hesitated and did not dare to let go.
Now she was unstable and moody.
Unexpectedly, Arya exploded the next second. She roared, "I told you to let me go!"
Xavier didn't let go, she struggled hard and even hurt herself.
"I'll let you go. Calm down..."
Xavier slowly loosened his grip and let her go, but his face darkened.
The side door of the emergency room opened and Jasper was wheeled out by the medical staff. He was covered in white cloth and no one could see anything.
Arya shuddered and slowly walked over. Xavier wanted to stop her, but she shook his hand away.
She didn't believe it.
It was impossible.
However, she took only two steps before she fell to the ground. It was Xavier who reacted quickly and held her by the waist steadily. The medical staff looked at Xavier as if they were asking if they wanted to see Jasper.
Xavier shook his head and left with Arya in his arms.
Instead of staying in the hospital, he took her back and asked Edward to examine her.
"She fainted from grief," Edward said after the examination.
Xavier stood by the bed and looked at her through the beam of light. Although she was very close to him, he felt that she was far away and far beyond his reach.
While he was looking at her, he seemed to sympathize with her mixed feelings.
In the past, she felt guilty about Jasper. Now, Jasper died because of her.
It was conceivable how she felt.
Jasper was not a thorn in his flesh, but was like a mountain, separating him from Arya.
Xavier asked Edward to stay in the hotel. Arya was emotionally unstable, so Edward had to be there.
Edward nodded and he was confused, wondering what was going on.
"Ryan, what should we do?"
Feeling itchy, Ryan moved and muttered as if he was unhappy.
His brow was furrowed.
Xavier took his hand away. Ryan looked like Arya when he frowned.
A slight smile appeared on Xavier's face when he thought of Arya.
But soon the smile faded. He tucked Ryan in and got up to leave the room, gently closing the door.
He stood at the door and looked at Arya's bedroom. He stood there for a long time before he walked over and opened the door. It was dark in the room and there was no one on the bed. Xavier walked in and saw Arya standing at the window.
She was wearing a nightgown that Xavier had changed for her, and her feet were bare.
Xavier picked up the slippers by the bed and placed them at her feet, "Put on your slippers. It's cold on the floor."
Arya did not move or speak.
Xavier closed his eyes and said in a hoarse voice, "What's done is done. What do you want?"
Arya lowered her head and looked at him. There was no light in her eyes, which were as dim as falling stars.
Xavier grabbed her ankle, "Come on, put them on."
Arya followed his strength and put her foot into the cotton white slippers, continuing to stand still.
"You must be hungry. Let's go eat something." Xavier put his arm around her shoulder. She hadn't eaten or drunk for more than ten hours since she came back.
Arya put Xavier's hand away and walked out on her own.
Xavier stood there and looked at her.
He had mixed feelings. In the end, he endured it and followed her out...
