"Shut up!" Xavier was finally in a rage.
His face darkened.
After helping Ryan with his bath, Xavier was already drenched, not in the water, but in sweat.
He threw Ryan on the bed and stared at him besides. 'How come there is such a nagging child?'
'Is he really my son?'
"Who is this kid like?"
Arya held back her giggle and put Ryan's pajamas on him. Ryan looked innocent and wondered whether he had done anything wrong.
Probably not.
Xavier unbuttoned his shirt and said to Arya, "I'll go wash up."
It was very unpleasant to get stuck in his clothes.
When Xavier entered the bathroom, Ryan's innocence was replaced by a smug smile. He climbed up Arya's neck and said, "Mommy, is Daddy angry?"
Arya pinched his little nose, "Did you do it on purpose?"
Ryan put the index finger on his lips, signaling Arya to keep silent.
Hiding in Arya's arms, he said in a low voice, "Mommy, it's the first time that I saw Dad at a loss."
Arya touched his forehead with one of her fingers, "You little rascal."
Laughing, Ryan was tossing and turning on the bed. Before Arya went back with a glass of water, the little boy had fallen asleep on the quilt. Arya walked over and covered him with the quilt.
Ryan's little face was flushed. Feeling someone was touching him, he snorted unhappily, turned over, and fell asleep again.
Then the bathroom door opened and Xavier came out in a bathrobe. He wiped his wet hair and glanced at the bed, "Is he asleep?"
Arya nodded. His collar slightly opened and the water droplets on his hair flew down Adam's apple and slid into his collar. Close to him, Arya could smell the faint fragrance of his shower gel.
Arya looked downwards to his legs, in a meaningful glance, "Do you really recover?"
Xavier reached out to stroke the hair on her forehead. Then, he leaned down and stared into her eyes. "Try me."
Arya turned around, looked away, and pushed him, "Get out of the way. I'm going to take a shower."
Xavier refused to get away but held her face, forcing her to look at him, "Are you hiding from me?"
"No."
"No?" Xavier's lips were getting closer and closer, till only one finger away. His hot breath was clearly spread over Arya's nose.
Arya quietly stepped back and said, "NO."
Xavier's hands rested on her sides. his smile more deepened, "Then show me."
"How... How?" Arya blinked, not noticing she was trapped.
Xavier got even closer and Arya pushed her hands against his chest.
The man looked down at her hands. Her fingers were slender, fair, with a defined shape, which would be perfect for a ring. The ring he gave her before was right on the ring finger of her left hand. Meeting the man's view, Arya wanted to draw her hands back, but her intention was noticed by the man, who pressed her hands against his chest.
The woman could feel the heat of his body through his clothes.
His eyes were so deep, like a bottomless lake, and his voice was low and seductive. "Kiss me."
Arya was stunned with eyes widened.
Taking advantage of her loss, Xavier kissed her lips, her chin, her neck, to her delicate collarbone. Finally, he buried his face on her chest, and said in a muffled voice, "Do you know how much I miss you?"
Arya regained her mind in time to push him hard, "Stop, please. I'm stinky."
She took Ryan to the mall yesterday and sweated a lot, but she didn't take a shower. It might be the pregnancy that made her feel tired and sweated following a short walk.
The man pushed his head harder, "There's no smell of sweat. I can only smell..."
Arya lowered her head and asked, "What?"
Soon the little boy fell asleep again.
The woman made the bed and took her clothes to take a bath after Ryan slept soundly.
After she finished, the man was not in the room.
Then, she walked slowly into the living room in her slippers, but Xavier was not there. Arya frowned and wondered where the man was.
Arya put on her clothes, opened the door, and walked out. The man was actually at the end of the corridor, leaning against the wall with a cigarette in his mouth.
Seeing Arya, he pressed the cigarette into the pot, walked towards her, wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and asked, "Can you smell the smell of cigarettes?"
Arya looked up and told him the truth, "Yes."
Hearing that, the man promised quickly, "Then I won't smoke anymore."
Arya smiled without refuting.
They had a tacit agreement to remain silent about what happened before.
And it was no use discussing more of it before there was a solution.
So, they just put it aside for now.
Xavier had decided never to take Arya back to the Old Residence.
Arya wouldn't go back, or anywhere else either. Although they had signed the divorce agreement, she couldn't leave Xavier because of Ryan as well as the child in her belly.
The Jones Family didn't know Harriet was injured until Cullen came over.
It was Henry who welcomed him.
"Sorry for not taking good care of her." Henry said, feeling a bit upset.
He was discontent with what Harriet did.
Why didn't she tell the Jones Family after getting injured? What did she mean by calling the old chief directly?
