Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

John was taken aback. Mr. Zachman,

, you’re not planning to let Ms. Salford know that you’re the one who saved her

She doesn’t want me to stay in Longfield. If she finds out I haven’t left, it’ll upsether, It’s better to let her think I’m already gone,Wren replied, glancing back at Clara

John frowned, puzzled Mr. Zachman, forgive me for speaking out of turn, but how can there belasting grudges within a family? I don’t know what happened between you and Ms. Salford, but I can tell you care about her a lot. You risked your life for her. I believe if Ms. Salford knew that, she wouldn’t stay mad at you

Besides, I think she still cares about you deep down. She may have said she wanted to kick you out, but that night, when it was pouring rain, didn’t she let you come inside, worried you had nowhere to stay

To me, Ms. Salford seems like someone who’s sharptongued but softhearted. If there’s any misunderstanding or distance between you two, why not use this opportunity to resolve it? I’m sure if Ms. Salford knew everything you’ve done for her, she’d be moved and wouldn’thold a grudge anymore!!

Wren’s gaze darkened. If Cara knew everything he had done, she would undoubtedly forgive him. But forgiveness wasn’t what he wanted

It wasn’t enough for Clara to stop being angry. He wanted her to love him again, just as she had before. He didn’t want their relationship to regress to something as simple and distant as family

Deep down, Wren understood better than anyone that even after everything, Clara didn’t hate him. She had simply withdrawn, refusing to show him even a sliver of the affection she once had

This was harder for him to accept than hatred. It wasn’t something he could change with actions or how much he sacrificed

Do as I say. And let me know immediately if you find anything from the investigation,Wren said firmly

Seeing Wren’s insistence, John knew better than to press further

Yes, Mr. Zachman. I’ll keep watch over Ms. Salford tonight if you’d like. You don’t look so well. Why not go back and get some rest?”

No need. You can head home and rest.”

As Wren finished speaking, a knock sounded at the door. He gestured for John to leave first before walking over to open it

Standing at the door was the nurse, holding a hairdryer and a towel John gave a small nod and left quietly

Wren took the items from the nurse, thanking her. After a brief pause, he gently closed the door and stepped outside with her

Is there something else?”

There’s one more thing I need your help with. When my sister wakes up, I want you to tell her that it was the man from earlier who happened to pass by and saved her. Don’t mention that I’m here,Wren said with a lowered tone

I’ve already arranged for someone to watch over her tomorrow,be added

The nurse gave Wren a strange look. If not for his concerned demeanor and how genuinely he seemed to care for the patient, she might have suspected something suspicious. The nurse leaned in slightly, lowering her voice. You’re really something you saved your sister, and yet you don’t want her to know? What is it? Did you two have a fight? Aflicker of impatience passed through Wren’s eyes, but he didn’t want to make things more complicated. He gave a noncommittal hum in response

Seeing Wren’s acknowledgement, the nurse shrugged. Alright, that’s your private business, anyway.”

Saying nothing more, she turned and left

Wren returned to the hospital room, closing the door behind him

He plugged in the hairdryer and sat by the bed, carefully lifting Clara to lean against him. Setting the hairdryer to warm air, he gently dried her damp, long hair. His movements were meticulous and tender, as it afraid to disturb her even in her deep sleep
