After spending several hours packing everything up, Esther texted James. [When are you coming to pick up your stuff?]

James didn't reply for a while, but eventually, he called.

At first, Esther hesitated to answer. After all, talking to each other felt awkward now. But she picked it up anyway because she wanted to return his belongings.

"Have you packed everything?" he asked.

Esther felt ignored when he only mentioned his stuff without saying anything else. "Yeah. Are you coming to pick them up yourself or should I send them to you?"

James suddenly chuckled, but it sounded oddly sarcastic to her. "It's okay, just leave it there. I'll drop by to pick it up later."

"Anything else you need?" Esther asked.

"Nope. What's the matter? Do you need something from me?" James replied.

Esther denied, "Nope, I don't need anything from you. Alright, I'll hang up now."

"Okay," James said.

Esther quietly compared herself to her and admitted that the woman seemed more attractive. Thinking of this, her heart sank.

"Is this your girlfriend, James?" The woman beside him had a sexy, deep voice that could easily captivate any man.

"That's not quite right. She's my ex-girlfriend," James replied.

"You're quite picky to even let go of such a cutie," the woman teased and pinched his cheek. Their sweet interaction was enough to make anyone envious.

Esther couldn't bear to watch and turned her head away.
