Holly fell to the floor, shocked. '40 million? How am I going to pay that?'
Pearl just walked out without saying a word, taking Esther with her.
As they left, Esther burst into laughter.
"Why are you laughing?" Pearl frowned. "Remember, if something like this happens again, feel free to use your power." She paused, annoyed. "I've already given you the company's shares, but you still don't want anyone to know and dragged me into this."
After Pearl came back, Pearl transferred her company shares to Esther, making her the biggest shareholder.
"I just want to be a good actress," Esther explained. "If people knew I owned the company now, they'd think I was hogging all the resources for myself."
Esther then gave a shy smile. "Thanks for helping. How about I treat you to a meal?"
Pearl thought for a moment, then shook her head. "Not today. I got a call from the school. Darius got into another fight."
Esther made a face. "That kid has too much energy."
Darius was attending the top school in Enswood. Despite his well-known parents, he often got into trouble.
Pearl smiled awkwardly. "What happened? Why did Darius get into a fight?"
The principal sighed. "It wasn't really a fight. He's just impulsive. He was trying to protect a girl."
Pearl approached her son, who was rubbing a reddened arm. "What happened, Darius?"
"They were picking on her," Darius said, glaring at three boys who looked ashamed. "I had to stop them, or they would've hurt her!"
Next to the boys, a girl clutched a bunny toy, her face smeared with dirt—a clear sign she'd been bullied.
